Koni or 2004 Z suspension??
Koni or 2004 Z suspension??
I am askign around for someone to maybe sell their 2004 Z suspension but I just saw people having good experience with the Koni the just came out for the Z. I have a non-sport suspension and I am looking into one of these.
Can someone give me some pros and cons?
and maybe give me your opinion?

I would go for the koni's adjustable if they are already available. Lifetime warranty and you can adjust the setting according to your liking. This suspension has been proven already I use it all the time on my other cars before. I usually use H&R springs with it a very good match. Again this is my preference you can always go for a different setup. Goodluck on your choice hope it turns out well.

I am thinking Koni's. Unless cost is an issue. And if you don't mind waiting, get the Tokico's that are coming out.

Re: Koni or 2004 Z suspension??
I have avoided the Koni sports for two reason's. One of my reason's won't apply and the other one may or may not. One, I've had Koni SA's (single adjustalbe) and at first they were nice, but I ended up pulling them off the car because they did not work very will with stiffer springs, I don't want to take that risk again. Second reason is because Koni specifically used LESS compression dampning on the shocks then the oem 350Z shocks. Add that to my previous Koni experience and I'm not interested. Plus, another reason come post's by the guy helping develove the shocks for koni, quote "I can tell the bump is softer. The rear squats a lot more on initial loading".Precisely why I'll wait for the Tokico D-spec double adjustable shocks. But!, that doesn't mean the Koni's are not a good choice, that anyone else can't run them and be happy.
If you can score a 04 Z suspension, I'd try that before I'd spend $745 on Koni shocks. I wish I could say, yeah get the Koni's their going to be sooooo much better. But, at this point I can't say that, I myself avoided buying them, and I really don't care for the bounce I have with my 03 Z suspension, the Koni's would have gotten rid of most of the bounce, but I don't view them as a much improved shock system, so I wait for the Tokico's.

Re: Koni or 2004 Z suspension??
I'd have to agree with Gsedan on this one. If you can find yourself an 04' Z suspension for dirt cheap go for that. Improved handling for a nominal fee is a good deal. If you want the most performance though for you money and don't mind spending more I'd at least wait for the Tokicos to come out and see how people like them. Konis might be a good choice as well but I personally would wait for the Tokicos first before making a decision. If the production D-specs are indeed both compression and rebound adjustable, these are the ones I'm going to get. I've had Tokico Illuminas before and they worked great with the 5 way adjustment.
