questions about rims......

ok so the time has come for my G to not be stock anymore.
The 1st thing I want to do is add a nice set of wheels and as i started looking I realized that I know nothing about this stuff......so here I am askin for help lol. Well lets start with what I'm lookin for....well I'm currently on the stock 18's from the factory and would like to up them up to the 19's. So here's my questions...

1.I have Bremo brakes, will i need spacers to clear the caliper?
2. During my searches, the most common size wheels I saw for the G's were 19x8.5 and 19x9.5. Will these sizes be sufficient?
3. I have no idea what "offset" means
4. what does "staggered" mean??
5. what I'm really interested in doing is maybe 19x9.5 in the front and maybe 20x10.5 in the rear, would this be ok?
Or would this be more headache than its worth?

Well I hope some of you can help point me in the right direction!! I remember the good ol days of buildin civic's an all i needed to worry about was 17's in a 4x100 bolt patteren

1. No
2. I'd say about 9.5 and 10.5 is good
3. Offset is how far the inside of the wheel is from the center (which is what will make your wheels flush to the fenders or not)
4. Staggered means the front and back wheels are different widths
5. Somewhere around 9.5 / 10.5 but stick with either 20" or 19" IMO

ahh I think I'm catchin on! so if a rim has a negative offset it would set the rim inside the fender and a positve offset would push the rim toward the outside of the fender?
If thats correct.....one last question. I'm going for an aggressive look, so I'll need something with a positve offset(i think)lol how is the offset measured? I think once i have that info, I'll be able to make an educated choice on a set of wheels.

you've got it backwards, negative offsets moves the wheel away from the body, positive offset moves it inwards

Wheel/Rim questions....!

Now that you understand a little more about rims you're going to have a
field day selecting what kind to buy. Stick with 19" or 20" rims, don't combine
the two sizes. Checkout www.f1motorsports.com for many different styles of
rims, companys like these have all the answers for your G35....offsets....lip
size etc. Try looking at our GALLERY for pic of members rides and the kind of
wheels most commonly used and how they look to you. G/L

+15 offset would be prefect for an aggressive setup. Double check that it'll fit before you buy tho

I prolly won't go that low on my 1st set of wheels now that I think of it....maybe somewhere in the +20-25 range. but i don't know. I figure I better walk before I run lol.

how a wheel fits is a function of the offset as well as the width. A +15 offset is aggressive on a 11" wheel, but not so aggressive on an 8.5" wheel
