for what i've read, psi stays constant between hot and cold with nitrogen filled tires. It is not affected as regualr air is with expansion as it gets hotter. racing teams use hydrogen because it will maintain the psi either hot or cold.

This is all completely untrue. ALL gasses are affected by temperature changes. Link to where you read this "information"?

Good grief - nobody puts hydrogen in tires. Race teams use nitrogen because they get a more predictable expansion and pressure increase, not because they get no expansion at all. As redlude97 said, all gasses expand with heat.

The real reason for the more predictable pressure change is that the nitrogen is processed to remove almost all water vapour. The water vapour is what causes much of the pressure change during extreme heat cycles like race conditions. The difference is negligible in normal street driving.

screw hydrogen just put some CO2 in that biatch. when your tires lose air pressure it'll be released into the atmosphere and the trees will suck it all in,

thus making more crops and ending world hunger

^^ contributing to the greenhouse effect, raising global temperatures as well.. we have enough CO2 in the air as it is

I had my tires filled with Nitrogen recently and I did notice an improvement in gas mileage. Not 4mpg, maybe 2-3 highway and 1-2 city, which still seems high to me but it's been consistent. And I don't think my driving habits changed, I still love driving my G

You guys have it all wrong. My tires are filled with Nitrous Oxide; this provides the best performance plus no need for extra bottles or warmers.

There is no way ANY Sanctioning Racing Body would let racers use a FLAMMIBLE gas in a tire.

Now I did have a friend that had a big 20# can of Freon 12 and he used it all summer to fill his old tires. Well Freon 12 has a boiling point of 75 deg F +/- and the first cold norther that came thru left all his tires flat.

That first link is a good one. Everybody that thinks nitrogen is helping their tires in any way should read the whole thing.

That has a great test and infromation, and proves exactly everything I've stated above.
