Baby's got a new set of shoes!

I like them. The reaction I get from folks tells me I did ok. Since I paid $1,300 for all four wheels & tires (used) I know I did ok.

The wheels are from an M45 (polished).

Tires are Michelin 245/45R18Y MXM4 on all 4 wheels. They're ok but both wet & dry traction and response could be better.

I'm thinking about replacing the tires with Pilot Sport AS sometime in the future.

To match stock diameters, looking at 245/40R18Y in front and 275/40R18Y in the rear.

Anyone care to share their opinions/experience with the Pilot AS tires.

How about this size stagger for the Pilot AS tires? Will it cause the front to push? Would you bother to stagger the tires? I may go with 255/40R18Y all round instead. Could rotate them front/back then.

Re: Baby's got a new set of shoes!

Sweet deal
I was lookin at the 20 inch FX45 rims ...

I will photoshop a pic of them.

I think you should not go too big on the back .. I do think the staggered tire size is good but the rims are only 8 inches (I think) on the M45 like the G18s ... which when they have a super fat bun on the back the tires are gonna bevel out from the rim lip and will look kinda crap ..or Wrong .. Yah know?

So .. that's the general reason for the staggered rim in the back .. say like a 9 or 10 inch .. so it doesnt bevel out ..

I dunno man .. up to you?

Later g

Re: Baby's got a new set of shoes!

i may be wrong, but i believe that having the same diameter tires all around may mess with the ABS and VDC. i am shopping for new rims and tires and it seems the closest to stock are 275/40-18 for rear and 245/40-18 for the front.

M45 wheels must be hard to find since NOBODY buys the car. Great deal you got them at...looks cool.

The M45 looks kinda like the ultimate 'mob' car, especially in black. The trunk looks like it could comfortably hold about 3 bodies!
They should feature it on ads running during the Sopranos. Betcha they'd sell better.

I kinda agree. I wanna like the M45, but something about it is strange. I think a new headlight/tailight treatment could help a lot. The Q is nice, but it's a little frumpy for me. Maybe if they made the M45 more aggresive, more sporty, that would help. How about a cheaper version of a M5? Could you imagine the M45 with a 6 speed manual? With 350 horses? How about 19 or 20 inche wheels? I don't care what that thing looked like, I'd have to have one!

I'd be more interested in having the M's "technology package" in the G35, myself. Intelligent Cruise Control would be nice in SoCal.

Yeah I agree... the M45 doesn't look like it possibly could come from the same company who designed the G35.

I'd much rather see them do a G45 sedan and coupe!

A G45 is very likely, I heard somewhere along the lines of 2007.

I'm sure the M45 will have some re-styling in 2-3 years. It's pretty pimp if people put 20s on that with hydraulic suspension. Rap video, here we come!

Re: Baby's got a new set of shoes!

The M's a little lighter and quicker than the Q. I was interested in one b4 I bought the Coupe. Besides it was out of my price range and not sporty enough for me. The G-Coupe is everything I want (except maybe a G-45 Coupe)

A G45 Coupe! Can you say "Yeah Baby!" Gimme that 4.5L from the Q45 (not the FX45). With 340hp I wouldn't need to add any bolton performance mods (yea, right).

Re: Baby's got a new set of shoes!

Umm.. isn't it the same 4.5L engine in the Q45, FX45, and M45?
