Valve stem options - OEM ?

Valve stem options - OEM ?
I'm just replacing my first set of tires, all 2004 OEM wheels and sizing. Are the valve stems integral with the TPMS sensors, or do they get replaced with the new tires? If they get replaced, is there any advantage of metal stems vs. rubber ones?
