Widest tires for stock 17"x7"

The stock tires are 215 in width which is sad for a sports sedan. I was wondering if I could put something like 225 or 235 keeping the same profile of 55, I think that is the profile.

Came across this on google. 275 on a 7 inch wide wheel

if you get 235, make sure the walls are 50

I only plan on making the rear ones wider and leaving the ones up front stock size. Wouldn't the lower profile in the rear look bad?

the sidewall would virtually be the same size as your old tire, so from the sideview, the tires would look the "same"

From the back, the tires would be wider. I dont think 235/50/17 was a popular tire size when I thought about you were doing, so it might cost some $$. In the end, you should probably put same size tires on all 4 corners, so you can rotate them regularly. of course, unless for some competition reasons that you really NEED a staggered setup

I wouldn't go wider than 235 on the stock 17" w/ only 7" width.. the 275 on the other thread probably has a side wall of 65+ aka SUV tires.

Don't go wider than a 235 on the rear. If you want to keep the 215/55/17 up front go with a 235/50/17 in the rear. The overall diameter is the same 26.3".
