Chrome vs. Alloy
Chrome vs. Alloy
I did a search and couldnt find any topics similar to this. My appologies if this is a re-post. I am curious if Chrome vs. Alloy is simply a matter of preference based on appearance or if there are any +/- to Chrome vs. Alloy?
Any thoughts?

It's preference (at least in reference to a G35). Chrome adds weight and weakens the metal slightly when its applied and fills any possible faults in the alloy. The weakness difference is minor and unless you're chroming an ultra light weight race wheel or driving your car through a rock garden at full speed, I don't think you'll be finding the difference.
There's a reason why you don't find chrome wheels on race cars. Given G35's are rarely taken to the track beyond casual racing or track days, I don't think anyone will argue the extra couple of lbs and blinding gaudiness will affect the performance of a 3500lb+ sporty sedan/coupe.
