aftermarket brakes

What would the best aftermarket brake setup be for the cheapest price? I have a 5at coupe so i would want equal or better stopping power(although it is great). Would it be best to just to paint the calipers and get new rotors? I just dont think i wanna spend more than a grand for new brakes.

Re: aftermarket brakes

I doubt 1G could get u a big brake kit at all. Even if its just the fronts. I would suggest getting new pads and vented rotors.

Re: aftermarket brakes

Hmm... safety equipment for the cheapest price... bad mix.

How do you drive your car? Autocross? Track? Just moderately aggressive on the street?

I think you'll find that a big brake kit won't improve your stopping distance. What it will do is improve heat dissipation, which allows for multiple consistent stops without fading. That's generally not a concern for street driving, even if you're being aggressive.

Tires will have an impact on your stopping distance. After all, it's the tire that's touching the road, not the brakes. Grippy performance tires will stop the car faster than cheap touring tires.
