Re: Big Brake kit installed (pics)

My car is a 5AT so it came with standard brakes. The pedal feel is much better than stock. I feel more in control than with the stock set up. I highly recommend this setup, cost wise you cant beat it and the performance is outstanding.

Nice brake kit. Since they look really much like mine except for the drilled rotors. Hehehe. I only have vented. But very nice.

Re: Big Brake kit installed (pics)

Did you just install the front? Reason I ask is you went with 14" Bigin's on the front and left the back with the tiny stock ones? Can you shoot a pic of the entire car so we can take a look at the front and back? Reason I ask is I wanted to do some bigin's up front and OEM slotted in the rear.

These brakes blow the stock ones away...
I thought about doing rotors but with 20 inch wheels the brakes look tiny. I agree $1750 is a lot for brakes but kits with the same specs are $2500 or more.

I only did the fronts... I was going to do the rear's but have opted to paint the caliper and put drilled rotors on the back.
Ill post a pic later today..

Re: Big Brake kit installed (pics)

I have installed AP front 14.25 and rear 13 before,to be frank, they are absolutely great brakes, but one thing caused me get frustrated is the weight. I lost my power gained by other mods because the brakes are damn heavier than stock. My mechanic told me they are about 30LB heavier and also tighter. So,I do not recommend to do the step if your cars have not been highly modded on power

Please do not paint your calipers, it looks cheap no matter how you do it, and it will flake off in a few months anyway. Im not trying to be rude, but I have been watching Honda drivers do this for years and it still looks horrible.

And any brake kit that can really offer big gains in brakeing power is going to be heavier. Brakes just convert rotating energy into heat and more metal can dissapate more heat, so while its nice to be able to stop quicker, it adds a lot sprung weight to your suspension.

that would be "unsprung", not "sprung" weight that is added by larger brakes...

big brakes are one of the best visual and performance mods you can make to your car, imo...

Link is dead & original post is in June of 2004. I don't think you're going to have any luck seeing the pics.

Sprung Sprang Spring, Oops.

I agree, I would pay just to see big rotors behind a set of nice wheels on my ride regardless off increased brakeing power or not. It bums me out when I see a nice car with huge rims, and puny little brakes ( ehem, escalades ).
