Question about TPMS...

I bought 4 OEM Ray's 19's from a forum member. They included all four TP sensors. Naturally, my car does not recognize them, so I've had that "low tire pressure" warning light on for the past 12,000 miles.

So I just put on some new rear tires. I instructed the worker to take off the TP sensors that came with the coupe wheels- and instead put on the TP sensors that my car originally came with. He did. But the front wheels still don't have my original TP sensors. I will swap those out when the front tires go bad.

So tell me why my warning light is OFF now?!? Only the rear wheels contain my original sensors. How does that make sense?

Something similar happened to me with my 350z. Got a flat and the car threw the light. So I throw on 300zx wheels on the front until I could get it fixed. Drive about 20-30 miles over the course of the week, light went out. Threw on the 300zx rears with snows and drove all winter. Bought 19s in the spring and drove almost a whole year on them. Light never came back on after I went 1/2 300zx, 1/2 wheels with TPMS

The sensors on the front have not been "programmed" to the receiver on your car. It's like they don't exist. The two in the back ARE programmed for your car, and the receiver recognizes them. They will only throw a code if they are recognized.

Aaaah. That makes sense. So I should still go ahead and swap the original front sensors back on when the time comes for new front tires.
