I can absolutely feel the difference. I love my 20"s and they look great but I can feel the increased stopping distance and they are not as nimble as my 18" which is why I keep my stock 18"s for the track and the 20"s for looking good on the street.

what about lightweight 20's? i don't know how the stock wheels are compared to other A-brands (Volk, Advan etc) but i'm planning on 20" Volks or Advans, which are usually lighter than other brands (i.e. Axis, TSW etc). do you reckon the lighter weight on bigger wheels would compromise at least to a noticable extent? I'm breaking my head over what to pick..my heart says 20's but my common sense screams 19" max. btw, on the note about engineers calculating which stock wheel/tire combo suits the car best: some G35's come with stock 19's, and some (like mine) with stock 18's..whats up with that then?

You could conceivable get a 20" wheel that weighs similar to a stock 18" wheel (roughly 26 lbs) but they're going to be pricey. But also remember going with wider tires will increase the total wheel/tire combo mass as well.
