Anyone replace all lugs w/ Mcguard Wheel locks? ApparentlyMcguard dosnt recommend it.

HI ALL
I was wondering if anyone here replaces all their lugs with Mcgard wheel locks (that would be a total of 20 locks for 4 G35C wheels)

I talked to Mcgard's customer service and they do not recommend it because the wheel locks are weaker in strength than the normal lugs..

Any opinions?
Can someone give advise?

It seems that Gorilla are the ones who make a set of 16 or 20 etc of wheellocks with one key out there....

Yeah, I don't think you want to use ALL locks...

Take a look into McGard Spline drive lug nuts, w/ 4 locks.

well
it looks like gorilla makes a set of all locks

the spline lugs can still be removed with the spline key which is universal.
i kind of think more locks will be more of a deterrent to thieves (aside from the hassle but thats ok)

well if you think about it if you use 1 lock per wheel or 5 locks its the same level of security, if a thief can get that 1 off then he can get all 5 off.

^yup, most likely the thief wont have a lock and will just be hammering sockets on and taking them.

As far as locks go, something is better than nothing. I just want to know if the splinedrive would work on OEM wheels is all.

If they really want your wheels, they'll get them. Whether you have 1 lock or 5 on every wheel. Every time a customer comes in with all locks i just shake my head in disgust. First off, it's unsafe, the wheel locks are NOT as strong as regular lugs. If you must, use a set of wheel locks and use spline drive lugs for the other 4.

OEM wheels have non-tapered seats but aftermarket lugs have conical/tapered ends for aftermarket wheels which are MEANT to accept tapered lugs. People can and do run tapered lugs with OEM wheels, but it's not something I recommend. There is no performance benefit, if anything it's less secure.

^Hey, i didnt know you were on here as well. I bought the same spline drives you did. Since they're less secure I'll just make sure to check on them every so often to make sure they're not getting loose.

Haha, yeah. I mean I drive a G so I started here, but I'm on my350z as well like many G owners. Technically as long as they are properly seated and torqued down they should be just fine, but the taper end might cause some play not present on the non-tapered ones. So yeah, just keep an eye on them and torque them down to spec occasionally.

Or you could always buy some aftermarket wheels to go along with those lugs...
