Got New tires on my 6MT CPE

So after stretching my protenzas to 20K miles and some change, I finally decided to get new tires --- and the $70 off at costco only made it easier. I got a set of Michelin sport A/S 19-inch, including installation for about $1150.

The road noise had dropped dramatically... and the ride is much smoother. I had heard great reviews on michelin tires on this site, but so far, Im really impressed.

Just something to consider before offering too much praise to the specific brand of new tire that you bought... if your old tires were ragged out and cupped(as our cars tend to do to tires... particularly the inner edges of the front tires), they will make a lot of road noise. Pretty much any new tire that you get is going to be quieter than the old cupped ones.

That being said, I have no personal knowledge of the Pilot A/S tires(just the Summer Pilot Sports), so they may in fact be phenomenal tires... just wanted to point out the tidbit about the road noise.

This last time, I bought the Michelin PS in 20". That ran around $1900 for the full set. They work fantastic. The road noise on these actually wasn't that bad. Now this last time I bought the PS2's and have no complaints about them, especially since my nephew paid for half while he had been driving my car. We also up sized the width to 245 front, 285 rear. These ones are even better. Of course the first set I had for the 20"s were Perelli's and they may have held the road better at that time.

Later,

Ray

Buying Tires at Costco....only if your OEM. =(

I have two issues with Costco, they don't mount tires on aftermarket wheels and you can't buy PS2 from them. They don't carry them and won't even order them, Costco is useless....I do however enjoy shopping there and saving money on normal every day items.

I was actually impressed by the installer dude there... gave personal touch to service that I wouldnt expect from a national chain. Way better than getting it done at the stealership where they were asking for $400 to mount.
