Make sure you are getting a FULL FOUR WHEEL alignment. Not just the front.

 

carFAX is bs.... carfax only holds records that are from dealers and insurance companies..... most accidents go unreported or taken care of "under the table" ..... relying on carFAX is like knowing how many times a person got sick from his medical records...

*my buddy owns a type S and carfax shows it as a clean title, but its been through 2 accidents, both brought it salvage title which was removed off the system.. he bought it with a clean title but after examining it... he knew exactly which parts were replaced..*

 

You could have a good body shop check the frame. It's probably not cheap, but they'll be able to tell you for sure if your frame's bent. 4-wheel alignment first.

 

post up your alignment results. it sounds like your caster may be off - uneven caster angles usually cause a car to pull in one direction. hitting a really bad bump or curb can throw off caster and this will never show up in a carfax report.

if caster turns out to be the issue, you'll probably have to take it to a frame shop or someone who can bend things back into place. i don't believe an alignment tech can adjust caster on our cars.

 

I also just wanted to say, if and struts/shocks are blown, or any springs are sagging will create a pull to one side. It create's a misalignment in the suspension, and feathers the tires as if you dropped your car.

 

I just test drove another G35 coupe (at a different dealership than the one I bought mine from)... It ALSO has a subtle drift to the right. Not quite as bad as mine but still noticeable.

The salesman said he had heard of this complaint before. Sounds like a pretty common problem with this car. I just wonder if Infiniti Corporate has an official remedy/explanation.

 

it's definitely a alignment probem. Mine used to do it (350z) untill i got my alignment reconfigured (not even because of the pull. mainly because of the wear on the tires). See if a shop that has the hunter alignment machine can do it. That machine was the only one that was able to fix the problem. Where in Fl are you?

Sames issue here. But then again, I've been dropped and haven't been aligned. And not to mention, one of my wheels is significantly worn about compared to the other three (bought them used...one of them has a good 25% less thread than the other).

 

Redcoupe04 yeah I live in Miami. I got it done at Monster Stereo In Coral Gables. They're real good but anyone that has the Hunter Alignment machine and has been trained (any Hunter Tech has to go through the training) should be able to resolve the problem. Just go on their site to find a shop in Palm Beach that is licensed/certified to use the machine.



Slaterbasist: I had a complete coilover system installed (coilovers/shocks/camber kit) and was able to resolve the problem with just the alignment from that machine. I spent a few hundrend bucks trying to get it done right with other people but that machine just hit it out the ball park.

 

I have the same problem and I'm thinking it's just an alignment issue. I hear that some alignment places will align it to drift towards crown of the road. That way if you happen to fall asleep or have your hands off the steering wheel for whatever reason and not paying attention the car will steer away from on coming traffic?

 

Some alignment places do tend to do that. They usually do that when they're working on a stock vehicle. If the car has any slight mod's (wheels/suspension) they should always ask if you want that done. Or you should let them know up front you don't want that due to the wear on the tires.

 

COR Wheels: Thanks. I did set up an appt with an Infiniti dealership alignment guy and I called up Hunter. The Hunter guy said this Infiniti guy is Hunter trained and top notch.

Hopefully, he's able to fix the problem.

sounds to me like road crown. Ive never heard of any tech aligning a car to make it go to the right. I'm pretty sure the road crown would take care of that anyway, and besides they make roads crowned so the water has somewhere to go when it rains. Ive performed alot of alignments. almost every car I have done with even a slightly lower profile tire will feel like its pulling in one direction. that being said make sure to get a copy of your alignment sheet. the rear adjustment is just as important as the front. with rear wheel drive cars the thrust angle will screw you everytime if its not within 0.4 degrees. also the camber will cause a pull if you have excessive cross camber. if the caster was off the tires would be severely cupped. hope that helps.
