Smile G35 Coupe Tire Wear

I have Toyo T1R treadwear of 280 on my car and the front tires are almost bald. The rears still have half the tread left. I was wondering if I added a camber kit or a toe adjustment kit, will it improve the tread life? I read on a G35 forum this quote

"Bottom line, if you're worried about premature wear and tear on the tires, get toe adjustment kits. If you can't live with uneven wear, then get camber kits."

Thanks any help is appreciated.

*PS-I am thinking about getting Michellin A/S Plus which have treadwear of 500 and a 4 year warranty. Does any one recommend this or is this a bad tire?

Dude, if your fronts are wearing out faster than your rears then you may need an alignment first. my fronts look new and the rears are damn near bald.

camber kits and toe kits don't IMPROVE the tread life they are there to help against premature wear

what one of my mechanics told me is not to compare tread wear across different brands because different brands of tires have different systems of tread wear

First thing is to make sure that your car is aligned properly to the spec. Your camber and toe may be off. I'm still on my original front Pilot Sports at 26.7k (though probably about 8k of that was done on my winter set). Rears lasted about 15k.

are the tires bald all the way across the tread or only on the inner edge?

The front tires were wearing out on the inside, so the dealership told me to flip the tires to reduce wear and it helped alot...But now with the flip the inside is now the outside and i can completely see that its gone. ....Alignment was done when i installed the tires. 2nd alignment 1 year after installation(12,000) miles. After that its every 6 months to keep it within specs.

That's definitely abnormal wear. I have the original pilot sports front and back and I'm at 28k. I still have about 5K of tread left on the back and maybe 2-3k on the front.
I notice in standard rain if I hit a puddle the car pulls pretty hard to the right or left. So it's time to replace them.

It's pretty normal for our cars to wear on the inner edges of the front tires. All generations of Skylines have done this as a result of aggressive factory front end alignments that the car was designed to have. The same trend of aggressive front end alignment was used with our G35 Coupes, and it results in slightly better handling at the expense of tire longevity.

One of the unfortunate things about the earlier model G35 Coupes(I think it was either '04 and prior or possibly '05 and prior) is that the camber cannot be adjusted to the point that it would eliminate the inner edge tire wear problems. You have to purchase and install an aftermarket camber kit to be able to get a full range of adjustment so that you can correct that issue if you really want your tires to last longer and wear more evenly. I believe SBC and Stillen make kits for our cars so that you can fix that tire wear issues or so you can have a more widespread range of camber adjustment should you desire to go with an extreme setup for a racing application.

I'd check alignment, air pressures, and shocks. All can lead to premature tire wear.
