***Camber Issues***

I have S-techs on my G and I see some negative camber like this -----> / \
Should I go out and get a camber kit? I'm putting new shoes on my car this week, so I want my new T1-S's to have a longer tread life. Anyone with suggestions?
TIA everyone.

get an alignment first and see how far you are off. most likely, you will be only able to get the rear wheels back or close to stock specs, because there is no adjustment for the front. if the camber is really bad in the front, you might just need to buy a front camber kit. good thing though is that g35s are rwd, so we use mostly the rear tires.....

So I cant fix the front negative camber? The front looks more slanted than the rear from what I can see.

Holy Crapola! Those dang things cost soooo much.

Anything else out there that works the same but cost less?

they will run more than 500. its more like 1200...front arm is about 800, rear will run about another 400-500 for the camber and toe adjustment.

Re: ***Camber Issues***

Are the arms worth it? $1000+ seems like a heck of a lot of dough to cough up for something that doesn't make your car look nicer or faster.

Who has had to change their tires due to negative camber problems?

Re: ***Camber Issues***

Groovy 4-

I've had some pretty bad rear camber issues so I did some research...spoke to a few other G35 members....and found a pretty good inexpensive solution for rear camber/toe problems for just around $300 in parts.

Background:
I have Eibach springs on my sedan and I'm rolling on 245/35/19 in the front and 255/35/19 in the rear. I got the car aligned a year ago, but I could not get the alignment back to factory spec.s. So my alignment was setup for "best-possible wear" on my tires. The rear tires started balding towards the inner part of the tires within 10,000 miles.

So I knew the obvious problem was camber issue....but I also discovered I was running way too low air pressure in my tires....I should have been running close to 40 psi on all tires (and should have been checking my air pressure more frequently since aftermarket wheels do not hold air as good as OEM wheels) .....I was way below that air pressure most of the time.

Anyway, just like you I found a bunch of expensive ways to correct rear camber/toe (stillen $$$$ and a few others). With the advice from another G-Member.....I decided to go with a rear camber/toe kit made by SPC (Specialty Products Company) Part # 72050 (Pro Series 350Z Extreme Rear Kit) with rear adjustments of Camber: +/- 4.00 and Toe +/- 3.00 [Note: each kit is made per/wheel, so get two kits for the rear].

Factory Specs (Sedan):
Rear Camber:
Minumum ( -1.08)
Nominal ( -0.58)
Maximum (-0.08)

Rear Total Toe:
Minimum: (0 inch)
Nominal: ( 0.11 inch)
Maximum: (0.21 inch)

Before SPC Install (These numbers are from a year ago):
Rear Camber:-1.20 (left)/ -1.30 (right)
Rear Toe: 0.07 (left) / 0.07 (right)
Total Toe: 0.14

After SPC Install (A week ago):
Rear Camber: -0.5 (left) / -0.4 (right)
Rear Toe: 0.06 / 0.06
Total Toe: 0.12 inch

Here's their website: http://www.specprod.com/

Part # 72050 kit comes with one rear camber arm and one toe adjustment. Buy two kits.

Although you can not buy directly from SPC they should put you in contact with a store that sells what you need.

Hope this helps you out.

Re: ***Camber Issues***

im guessing that the negative camber in the front isnt nearly as big of a deal because we are rwd?

Re: ***Camber Issues***

So the inside of the rear tires would wear out faster than the fronts?
From what my eye tells me, the front camber seems to have more negative camber than the rears.

Re: ***Camber Issues***

For my front tires.....I had inner tire wear after 10,000 miles. I was lucky enough to switch (mount) the front left and front right tires. I do have camber in the front, but Im suspecting that most of the quick tire wear for the front tires could have been atributed to me not paying attention to the tires' air pressure.

Anyway, I'm hoping I should be able to push the front tires into next summer...I will definitely keep a very close eye on air pressure.

If after a year from now I find that tread wear was pretty good....than I wont go with the front camber correction kit.

But I'm guessing I may need a front camber kit....knowing my stupid luck...I'll probably have to get some kind of camber kit for the fronts.

oh well I'll just have to wait and see.

Generally I always thought the rear tires wore out faster than front tires.

I'm kinda in the same boat as you....I do have a bit more camber for the front tires than the rears according to my alignmnet sheet. Visually my front camber doesn't really seem noticeable.
