Rim size vs performance

How does rim sizes affect performance of a car.??

It's not so much size, but more weight. The bigger the wheel the heavier it is (in most occasions)

If you put 22s on your car they are probably going to weigh about 35pounds a piece, when I nice racing 18" will weigh around 20pounds or less.

^^ Plus the Tires weigh much more if it's bigger size

That can be debatable though.

A 20" wheel with a rubber band wrapped around it won't weigh as much as an 18" with a super thick bagel tire haha.

Even if the 18" and 20" were identical in mass, the 20" will slow you down more. Rubber on a 20" is usually less then the 18" (given the same width), people usually don't get bigger diameter wheels+tires when they get bigger rims. You want to stick with what is close to stock as possible, so bigger rims will mean lower profile tires.

Not to threadjack but how about offsets? I noticed these "hella flush" set ups and I'm wondering how does it affect the handling (positive/negative). I can't imagine a lower (than stock) offset to handle better because logically it's sitting farther out thus resulting in more leverage for suspension compression? What do you guys think?
