quiet riding tires

Well i bought some moderatly cheap General UHP summer tires being that I live in Texas and it snows once a year and when it does everything closes

anywho, they have a little over 30k on them and they are getting bald.

These were a bit noisy on rougher roads, on newly paved roads or smooth black top they are pretty quiet.

I understand that these were budget tires and thus noise would of been an issue

Would upgrading to say a nice pirelli or michellen help out with road noise?

I will be the first to admit that I dont "race" my G or do anything but drive on the highway. Basically I drive 60 miles round trip to work and need some quiet riding tires.

Im looking at about $200 or so each for tires. I can spend a bit more if they are smoother/ quiter

let me know what you guys think

There's really only one touring type tire available in your size, the Kumho LX Platinum. Those will give you the quietest best ride available. Not really a sport based tire though.

In the sport a/s class I'd look at the Bridgestone RE960 or Michelin Sport A/S+. Those won't be as quiet as the Kumho but will be vs the General and handle aggressive driving better than the Kumho.

Are you speaking of brand new quietness or worn quietness as the Kumhos get really loud after 8,000 miles as do most tires.
So many people are fooled by brand new but they learn better with time.

Many times I happily trade a decibel or two at the beginning for higher AVERAGE quietness over 20-30k.

Any tire will get louder the longer it wears. However, these tend to keep quiet the longest through their life compared to the others.

If you are running 18" wheels, you must have the "Sport" suspension. It just naturally is louder. The bushings are harder and transmit more noise. You must decide what your compromise between noise and performance will be.

G35 sedan w/ too much money in mods
Vredestein Sessanta. Best looking, best performing, best ride in this price range.

I believe they are available online only in most cities, hard to find locally.

Michelin Pilot HX MXv4. Wont last very long, but well worth the price. Depending on what kind of set-up / size you have, lower profiles will be noisier.
