oem wheels on 2003 coupe 6mt w/brembo

hi.

i know there is a lot of info specifying oem wheel sizes but follow me.....

all 4 wheels on my 2003 g35 6mt w/brembo are all stamped 18x8JJ and 30 (offset). HOWEVER, the front ones are stamped FRONT, W238 and the rear ones are stamped REAR, W239. Not sure what the W238/W239 means.....

My question is this, ARE THE FRONT AND REAR WHEELS THE SAME OR NOT??? if they are the same, why would Nisan stamp them FRONT/W238 and REAR/W239?
Am I ok to run a wheel stamped with REAR on the front?

any help is greatly appreciated!
thanks!

I think technically the front to rear wheels are different. The front wheels have clearance for a tall bolt and spacer that is screwed into the brake rotor/wheel mounting surface aka the hub face. I have no clue why it is there, but most people just remove and toss it. once you do that, you can put your front and rear wheels wherever your tires allow.

Thanks for the reply. After reading your post, i found the below excerpt from the service manual.......it looks like they made the front wheels with more clearance to accomodate the "special pin" (mentioned below) on the front rotor in order to keep people from accidentally putting the rear wheels (with the wider 245/50 tires) on the front! ......it's kind of a dummy proof feature.
thanks again.

Rotation AES000G4
TIRES OF THIS MODEL CAN NOT ROTATE.
CAUTION:
When installing wheels, tighten them diagonally by dividing the work two to three times in order to prevent the wheels from developing any distortion.
DESCRIPTION
Safety device preventing from being incorrectly installed
Front brake disc rotor and front wheel
Front and rear wheel size for this model differs, therefore a special pin has been installed on the front brake disc rotor. To accommodate this pin a hole has been provided on the front wheel (the rear wheel does not have this hole.) and in some case the rear wheel is being mistakenly installed on the front.

an easier way to explain it is that the "special pin" on the front hub face keeps people from accidentally putting the rear wheel, with the wider 245/45 tires, on the front.
