Tires and safety

Hello,

This is not a Infiniti G35 Question but i was hoping for anyone who may help.

Im looking into getting winter tires for my 1998 Lincoln Navigator.

The OEM size now is 275/75/17 can i down size a bit like 270/70/17 or lower but how low and what would be the consequence.

ADVANCE THANKS

no such tire as a 270/70/17

Consequences of going smaller is larger fender gap, and speedometer being off slightly. Wll read faster than you are actually going.

You can compare sizes here

I think you mean 255/75-17 as the oe size. That's the smallest 17" option for that vehicle, however.

Tire sizes must be selected to MATCH or EXCEED OEM load index.

here you go:

http://www.1010tires.com/tiresizecalculator.asp

enter your OEM tires size, and any tire size you want to get, and it will tell you any size differences and which tires are made in each size.
