Cast vs Forged

Are forged wheels always lighter than cast?

I just spoke to a rep from Bozeforged, and I asked him the weight on one of their basic 5-spoke design wheels (I think it was called "stinger"), and he said it was 27 lbs per wheel! He even said that they're coming out with a new thinner-spoked 5-spoke wheel that will weigh in about 22 to 24 lbs. Still heavy IMO.

Forged wheels are not necessarily lighter. But for a given weight, the forged wheels will be stronger. This allows fored wheels to be lighter while maintaining strength. There are some forged wheels out there that are quite heavy.

What size wheels are we talking about? If they are 17" then 27 lbs is heavy.

We're talking about 18x8 wheels.

That's still pretty heavy. The 18x9.5" Work Emotion CR Kai is only 19 pounds.
