Grinding sound when braking

Okay I know the brake pads are still beefy because the car barely has 2200 miles on it. The grinding feeling/sound only happened twice, both times were when I was backing out of a spot while turning my steering wheel a couple of times. Then after I get out of the spot, I went forward and when I applied the brakes, it grinded for 1 second. This exact same thing happened to me twice. Both times I pulled over and couldn't find anything wrong. Should I take it to Infiniti and have them check it out? I've tried to repeat it but so far the grinding hasn't come back but I'm still worried as to what caused that grinding sound (only when I applied the brakes right after I start moving forward from backing out of a space). If anyone has any idea as to what may be causing this, I'd appreciate it before I head to the dealer. Thanks.

I think it's the ABS system checking itself. My brakes make noise too, shortly after I start the car and start moving forward. Then again, what the heck do I know.

I've had the exact same problem on my sedan. Same circumstances, right after starting and pulling out of a spot. I asked my service advisor about it, and he said he's never heard of it and that they can't duplicate it now since the car was hot. It doesn't happen to me all the time, but it does get on my nerves.

What a relief.... I thought I was the only one. My car was ALSO under the same conditions as you (backing out and then going forward about 10-20 ft. and it WAS damn hot outside). But it also happened inside a parking garage after I came back from the movie theater. If it happens again or a few more times, I'm definitely going to bring it to the dealer.

I have that problem too. It is very likely that your rotors could be warped thats why you are experiencing a grinding sound. They warp if you wash your car too soon when the rotors r still really hot and you spray cold water, then they warp. Yea i have the same problem, except my rotors grind like 40% of the time i brake! my problem is rly bad, but i cant seem to duplicate it when i go and talk to infiniti so they wont fiix it. bastards.

Hmm I've always waited for the brakes/rotors to cool down before washing the car or the rims. I do daily driving in the city and have NEVER pushed my brakes to the max. I highly doubt my rotors are warped... but it's a possibility.

I don't know if washing the car would do that, if that was the case, seems like everytime you drove through a rainstorm it would cause that, that water is cold and if you watch a car driving through a wet street, there is a lot of water ending up in your wheel.

Re: Grinding sound when braking

hmmm. well when its raining there isnt a direct stream of water hitting your rotord. The water drips down your cars and your car tires spin so fast, it will barely touch the rotors. Plus, rain water tends to be warmer than hose water.

I don't agree with that, you are constantly splashing water, running through puddles, etc. I see cars with their wheels "steaming" after a stop. Plus, I have gone through a large puddle, and noticed when I first apply the brake, they feel weird, but quickly dry out. If water isn't constanly hitting your brakes, explain the mess on our wheels from wet brake dust!

Re: Grinding sound when braking

If rotors warped that easily, there would be so much more people with problems with every single car out there not just G35s let alone just few people on this forum...
