Whats better? A lower or higher offset?

I ordered some 19x10 inch wheels with a +22 offset for my Coupe, but now the seller says he has to give me a 19x10 with +17 offset. Is there a big difference? If so, which offset will be more flush with the fender? Also, will the size of my lip decrease with the +17? Please help...

Ok...

The lower offset you go, the more the rim will come out of the fender and the bigger the lip will be. Now you are going from +22 offset, which is already very low, to even lower +17. With +22 offset and if you are gonna lower your car, you will need to roll your fenders. Since you might be going with an even lower offset you will definately need to roll your fenders and make sure you don't go with a tire higher than 285 for the rear. I would recommend 275/35/19 which will tuck the tire so it doesnt hit the rear fender.

I used to have 285/30/19 and I bought a set of 275/25/19 Goodyear F1s, now they fit perfect!

You also have to count in the fact that if your offset is significantly different from stock. you'll put wear on the suspension pieces in places where it was not ment to be. With +17mm you wheels will stock out (a lot, I believe) and rolling of the rear fender will be necessary. Stock offsets for the Coupe 18s are +30mm front and rear. The Nismo 8.5" front and 9.5" rear are +25mm and +30mm respectively. Keep those figures in mind.
