Coupe Tires question

Are there any reason I can't run 245/45/18 on all four corners of a 6MT Coupe? I'm hoping the wider front tire will reduce understeer at the limit and provides a bit more curb/pothole protection. Not to mention being able to rotate tires without dismounting them from the wheels.

Are there any issues with ABS or traction control that I needs to be aware of?

Re: Coupe Tires question

the ABS and traction controls on the front wheels are set to the 225/45 r18 diameter.

Plus to limit the oversteer due to RWD, that's why the rear tires are wider.

Re: Coupe Tires question

Hey TX_35
I did change the tire combination on a 6M coupe. I used the 245's up front, but had to dismount them, each f and r is stamped as such on the inside rim. I traded off the 225's for 275/40/18 and they look and fit well. There is another post or two I put up when I did this. There are no traction or abs control issues at all as the original rear diameter is maintained, just the fron to rear diameter is now equal instead of being off.7 as it was with the stock staggger.
The car rides softer and looks much better, I am happy with it and so is my girlfriend who owns and drives it!
Have a good one

Re: Coupe Tires question

I'm thinking of doing the same as you- running the same 245/45/18's all round. These are only 2.7% off on speed.(slow)
I've run 225/55/17 snows all round this winter without any problems. These are the same diameter on rear as stock and slightly smaller in diameter in front.(3% error)
Unless I can find any issues with this setup, then that's what I'll do. The VDC and ABS seemed fine with a little variance in tire sizes.

Re: Coupe Tires question

Thanks for all the inputs. Unless the actual wheel width is at least 8.5", I don't think I would go with 275's in the rear. Not to mention I still wouldn't be able to rotate the tires. As long as VDC and ABS doesn't get upset over the change, 245's all around seems like the best choice for the street.

Re: Coupe Tires question

Hello again,
check my post under tires from a few weeks back. Once I had the tire shop measure a wheel, they actually are much closer to nine wide than eight(strange but true) they are more than 8.75 and the 275 only is 3/8 wider than the rim on both sides. check my old post in tires if you want more specific. The car looks so much better with the wider rubber at the rear and it does ride smoother.
Let me know.

Re: Coupe Tires question

Be careful what you do. My understanding is that Infiniti claims that 225's are the widest tire you can put on the front of the coupe or sedan and clear all the suspension bits. So, I'd guess 235's.. maybe, 245's... pushing it. The back wheels are fine.. they don't have to steer.
