Lightest 18" wheels

Re: Lightest 18" wheels
For that size my best guess would be VOLK TE37s.

Also VOLK Gram Lights, but I don't think they have them in the size your looking for.
Good luck. I know there are more out there, but sometimes you give up looks for weight/performance.
- Don't argue with idiots. They will bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.=P-
Edited by RaySur350GT on 04/10/03 01:53 PM.

Re: Lightest 18" wheels
I did a little more research for ya.
The 15" TE37 only weighs 8lbs. This meaning the 18" weigh 16 lbs from what I read.
The SSR Competition is very light also. 15" only weighs 8 lbs
so hopefully if they have an 18" with weighs the same 16 lbs.

Re: Lightest 18" wheels
try this site:
http://www.wheelweights.net/
great info here, but as always, there will be variability. don't know what the sample size is or source.
SSR Comps are among the lightest across all sizes, but they are $$$.
Anybody got a suggestion for the lightest wheel under $300? I've got a tax return coming...

Re: Lightest 18" wheels
I looked at the website and found the TE37's in 18x7.5 form weighing in at 17lbs.
Now there are 18x8.5 TE37's in magnesium that were in the 12.9lb range, where can i get those and do they come in the sizes i am looking for?
Next on the list were Centerline's RPM 18x8.5 weighing in at 15lbs
Both of those wheels make the regular TE37's look like anchors in comparison

Re: Lightest 18" wheels
i'm not a metallurgist, but i believe that's only in dust form. i know aluminum dust is extremely flammable as well, but i don't see any of those wheels going up in flames.
i'd question whether magnesium or other lightweight wheels can handle day-to-day potholes though.
