Tire sizing and wheel question
Tire sizing and wheel question
Are 235/35/20 and 265/35/20 tires okay to fit onto 20x8.5/20x10 wheels? I'm pretty sure this is okay, but some people have told me to go with 30 profile instead of 35.
My reasoning for going 35 is that I hate the stretched look and I want to minimize the amount of stretch while running aggressive offset wheels, as well as some extra padding to protect my wheels from the bad roads in my area.
Any ideas or input?

I had 235/35/19 on a 9" wheel before. I hated how it looked (stretched) and also I felt everything. Upgraded to 245/40, then 255/35. I don't know how much room people with 20's have to work with, so I'm not sure.

I would do the 30 series sidewall all around.
I have the 35 series up front and I have some rubbing issues on the front bumper / fender mount when I hit small dips and bumps that shoot my suspension up.
I should have researched that a bit more, but I didn't... so now I'm waiting for a smaller set of tires to come in so I can switch out.
BTW, my wheel and tire specs are as follows:
F: 20x9.5 +15, Yoko S-Drives 245/35/20
E: 20x10.5 +15, Yoko S-Drives 275/30/20
With the rears with that size and my fenders rolled in the rear, I don't have any issues at all. The rubbing is in the front only...

konxeptionz, so these would be my two options for the front:
20x8.5 -12 with 235/35/20
20x8.5 -12 with 235/30/20
Or maybe I should go with 245/30/20? I just want a thicker sidewall for peace of mind...but I talked to Shane and he's telling me the same thing about how the fender bolts and front bumper mount may need to be modified to avoid rubbing on dips.

I think either 235/30 or 245/30 would be fine. You don't want exposed lips so the 245 should help with that. On my 9.5, the lip is slightly exposed but not to a point where it is too extreme or worries me. Hell, even an exposed lip doesn't worry me at all, I have just learned to be a more careful driver and not curb my wheels.
I know you want a thicker side wall, and I was in the same boat as you when I first ordered my wheels. I was afraid that the 30 series would be too thin for my driving abilities, but honestly... the 30 series wasn't as thin as I originally thought it would be, at least with the Yoko S-Drives anyway. So now after seeing how the 30 series is on my back wheels, I'm not the least one bit scared of bending or cracking my wheel when I change them out in the front. But then its also not like I go off-roading in my car either.

Don't mean to thread jack, but I picked up a set of 18x7.5" rims for a project I'm doing, and I'm wondering what size tire would be good for that width? I want it to be flush, no stretch or bubble look. Any input is greatly appreciated! Thanks

IIRC the stock sedan sport wheels are 18X7.5 and I think they came with 235/45/18s. The tires were a good match to the rims.

That was a 4 minute time difference from your question to your last post... because you were being impatient... I will not answer your question that can be easily obtained my searching through the forum.
Happy searching, sir.

Sir, please note the day difference. 2 days. And to be honest I did search, and did not find what I was looking for. So if you know the answer I would greatly appreciate it.

^^ I stand corrected.
Most factory wheels for the coupe are indeed 18" wheels, yes, but if you have the sport package then you could also own a set of OEM 19" Rays.
For your 18x8 wheels all around, I'd run a 225/40 all around. I do not have pictures either.

215 or 225 would be fine. That's going to come down to what you wanna run, but either size will work. Sidewall is up to you and how thick you want it in order to drive around. But I think a 40 series sidewall would be fine for daily driving around the city.
