Bridgestone Praxis Suspension System

Hey fellow G owners,

I read about this suspension system in Road and Track a few months ago:

http://www.praxissystems.com/

It's currently available for the WRX STI and is being developed for the 3-Series and the Mustang. I think they should start making them for the G, so if you agree with me, go to the site and fill out the survey and tell them you want one too.

I love my coupe and the Tein S-tech springs I put on really make it look great. I am kind of tired of bashing the front or rubbing the undercarriage when going in and out of driveways. This system provides a solution to having the good looks of a lowered car, with the practicality of a standard ride height.

Besides the ride height, it provides a variable suspension system from a major manufacturer, fully engineered to work correctly together.

I don't have any affiliation with Bridgestone/Firestone, I just read about this, think it looks cool, and hope they'll sell it for our car.

Re: Bridgestone Praxis Suspension System

Hey G-owners,

I just got a response from the product manager at Bridgestone/Firestone about this suspension system. He told me that I was the first one to request that they make this suspension for our cars.

I can't be the only one who wants his cake and to eat it too!

This system is great for everyone who wants the best of everything in one package:

Put your car at normal ride height for rough roads, steep driveways, winter. Then drop it an inch and stiffen the suspension a little for canyon runs or general driving. Then flip a switch and drop it into the weeds and make the shocks like rocks and tear up the autocross course on the weekend. And when you're done getting fast time of the day, raise it back to normal and take that nice comfortable ride home with the trophy!

This is an amazing package and for it to be only sold to guys with WRX's, Bimmers and Mustangs is a real shame for us G owners.

Go to the website in my first post, and check out the system. If you're like me, you'll fill out the survey and tell them that they need the system for our cars as well.

they forgot to mention something. You will need to get an alignment everytime u change the ride height. I read that in the magazine.

Re: Bridgestone Praxis Suspension System

I read about it a year ago, when that link showed up on these forums. I, and I'm sure several others, filled out their little web form expressing interest in a G35 version. You can't possibly be the first. Maybe the first since they bothered to start listening?

Buddha,
Ya, your alignment settings would change with the ride height. I would just set your alignment for the position you plan to drive in most time (for me that would be the middle, 1" drop) and then just live for the differences when you change it.
If it was set up that way, then in the normal position you'd have a little less negative camber and in the max dropped position you'd have more negative camber. I don't think you'd be in either position long enough for it to make a difference and in the lower position a little extra negative camber would be good.

Ryoken,
I'm just saying what the guy at Bridgestone/Firestone told me. Maybe I'm just the first one that he knows of.
Either way, I still think it would be great if we had this as an option for our car. More options are always better than less (that is unless you're at Home Depot trying to find a toilet seat and there's 35 choices and all you want to do if find somewhere to sit).

Re: Bridgestone Praxis Suspension System

sounds interesting, my friend with an STi wants to get one, but how do they perform on the track? also, when the shock goes bad, do they rebuild or do you have to buy a new one? i think that thinig cost upwards of $3K.

All great questions.

I suggest you go to their website and ask them when you fill out the survey.

And don't forget to ask them to make the kit available for our cars, if you are interested.

Suggested reading about problems SCC magazine encountered with the Praxis system on their STI.
