Wheel Spacer nut striped.

I swear, the nuts that come with the ichiba spacers are made out of plastic or something, they strip SOOO easily!

But anyways guys, i've striped 2 nuts already and i was doing a search and...

http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_1...2166000P?mv=rr

Seems to be really popular and works too.

It says it work with sockets, but i was reading a review and someone said it didnt work with a socket wrench.

Does anyone have this set or used it with a socket wrench? Would you recommend it? Thanks

How bit are the nuts on the ichiba spacers? Stock are like 21mm or 23mm, I forgot.

w4kj4k 11-28-2010 10:46 PM

the spacer nuts are 17 mm, which they have that in sears kit. But im looking at the picture and... im curious how its used

w4kj4k 11-28-2010 10:50 PM

Ohh i see how it works now. You put the piece on to the nut, then a socket over it. Only thing that worries me is that the space on the spacer is pretty tight, so would this even work..

Whenever I get spacers I'm prolly just gonna replace the nuts with ones of better quality..

Yeh im really suprised by how easily these strip. It literally sometimes feel like plastic lol

Did you use a torque wrench or impact gun to install them?

w4kj4k 11-29-2010 12:26 AM

I only use the torque wrench to get it to 80. The other 4 lugs came off easily with my breaker bar... then bam this one wasnt perfectly shaped and it started stripping :[

The threads are stripped or the hex?

w4kj4k 11-29-2010 12:43 AM

Just the hex itself luckily

Did you use a 12 point socket or a 6 point?

w4kj4k 11-29-2010 01:50 AM

6 point, it fitted in, but then like the nut itself started to deform and stuff and i couldnt get the socket in all the way.
Its actually not FULLY striped because i stopped but yeh. I'm going to go ahead and go to sears and by that socket set and hopefully it works.

common issues, best ones ive gound are project kics. Spendy yes, but its what hold you wheels on the car :)

w4kj4k 11-29-2010 02:13 AM

for sure. but going to home depot or whatever and finding a high grade nut should be good huh?

You sure you have ichibas? All 10 sets of ichiba V2s I have had use a 19mm...

I have also never had any one of them strip.
