New G35 owner needing winter setup advice

I recently purchased a used 2005 G35 6 speed MT. The car came with 19" wheels and summer tires. I don't want to do any damage to this beautiful machine during this winter and is looking to swap out the 19" for 17" with winter tires.

My brother used to own a G35 coupe and have a set of 17" stockies that came off his car that he never sold. I don't think these will have any issues fitting my car with the sports package installed, but thought i'd ask anyways since i'll be ordering the tires online and returns can be difficult. Will there be any fitment issues?

I will be purchasing winter tires for the 17" wheels. What winter tires have worked best for people on this forum in the past? Should I purchase the manufacture suggested size of 225/50/17 (front) 235/50/17 (rear)? I was reading on another thread that some have gotten 225/55/17 for all four and it's working good for him.

Thanks in advance for the help.
