Offset question

Question for the wheel smart folks, I'm looking at some rims that are 18X8.5 front and 18X9.5 rear. What offset do I need to go to get the front a little more flush.

Actually can someone explain if the higher the offset number means flush-er with the fender, or the lower the offset number. I'm not a big fan of the tucked appearance. Thanks

first of all, do you have a coupe or sedan? are you lowered or stock height? do you plan to have any camber kits? 18's are a little small for a G35..unless you plan to track it or drive slammed to the ground...a typical size to get would be 19x9.5 front and 19x10.5 or 11 rear. The offsets all depends on your model car...you can run aggressive offsets with tires being stretched and using camber kits..the lower the offsets, the bigger lip you get..also depends on what disk type your want too, I.E. Low, Medium, or High disk...

We need more information from u...

^ I have a sedan. I didn't plan on dropping it so for that reason I didn't want to go with 19". No tracking for me, just an everyday driver that likes aftermarket rims. BTW 10.5 doesn't fit on the sedan without issues.

^ who the hell told you that? I have 11's on my sedan.

The higher the offset, the more "sunken" the wheel is, the lower the offset, the further from the hub is.

I'll explain briefly.

| | < this is your rear drivers side wheel

| . | < that period is in the middle of the wheel and is a 0 offset

|. | < that is further to the left giving you a higher offset or a + offset

| .| < this is further in giving a lower offset or a - offset.

You will not be able to run negative offsets on your car.

I recommend looking for a a set of 19s in maybe a 19x9 +30ish and 19x10+42. Give you a nice rear stance and is flush.

If you look into the Canadian market place a member "intg8r" is selling a set of DPE wheels with perfect fitment for a Second gen. The wheels are worth about $4000 but he's selling them for $2000. Check those out as he has photos of them on his second gen. They're 20s, but that's cool too.

My wife and I have an 05 sedan and we are looking to drop her conservatively(an inch or so)

my question kinda falls in this thread so i hope you dont mind the thread jacking..

my concern is the rear set up, im worried its going to rub and i was hoping i could get some input...?

the set up in the rear is 19x9.5 on a 275/30r19, fronts are 19x8.5 on a 245/35r19..

any input will be greatly appreciated.

I too have a question about offset and disk type. I have a 06 coupe that will likely be lowered but not very aggressively (~1"), probably throw on camber kits because I'm **** about tire wear

I may be getting a BBK some time in the future and would like to prepare for that. Likely a 6pot Alliance, Wilwood, Stoptech, Akimbo etc (in that price range).

Rim will be 19". Thinking 9.0 in the front and 10.0 in the back (I have no will to tire stretch), with a +15 (F) and +10 (R) offset . The problem is I don't know if an A-disk will cut it up front with a bbk and am forced to go with an R-disk.

Has anyone run different disk types front and rear? Curious on the difference in curvature and if it's noticeable. The loss in dish is minimal, imo (A->R). Additionally, will I be rubbing with those offsets? The car is a daily driver and would like to avoid it as much as possible without being too sunk in. It will likely be seeing a few track events as well.

Cheers.

For a mild 1-1.5" drop, I would say either Eibach Prokit or Tein H-Tech. IMO, Eibach has better spring rates. You could also go with 350z springs up front and G coupe springs rear (around .5-.75" drop) Depending on your offsets and amount of natural camber you get from the drop, you may need a mild fender role if your running that wide of a rear tire. It is a simple process when done by a shop that knows their stuff.

Prayer to the Car Gods... that drive G's

I'm driving a 2004 Infiniti G35 Sedan
Need some good advice on getting some wheels. Not too confident with what Offsets and Tire sizes would go good with the following rim choice:

Vossen Wheels
19x8.5 inch set for the front && 19x10 inch sets for the rear.

I'm shooting for an agressive VIP look and wouldn't mind a little stretch on the tires. Also, I got a hold of some stock 350z springs and was told it would give me a .5-.75 inch drop.

Service advisor for the wheels suggests i upgrade my choice to a set of:
20x8.5 inch (front) && 20x9.5 inch (rear) with a 38 to 50 offset.

Any Suggestions on both options would be tiiiight...

Thanks in Advance.
Don Pegs.
