I just picked up some used wheels, but they did not come with center caps. I was wondering if there is somewhere that sells generic center caps for cheap, so I don't have to pay $100 for 4 center caps from the manufacturer. I would also like to find some in black so I don't have to paint them.

Any ideas?

A lot of wheels don't come with center caps and won't accept them.

What kind of wheels are they?

MRR Gt-1's

I know they have center caps for them, but they do not have black ones.
I've seen people (especially with the Varrstoen wheels) that have just plain black center caps with no markings.

So it doesn't matter if I don't have center caps at all? I've just heard before that its better to have them, but not sure if thats true...

Doesn't really matter, it's not going to hinder the wheels.

Have you spoke with MRR about getting the caps? I find it weird a company like MRR is charging $100 for the caps.

If you know anyone that is a machinist you could get some custom ones done. Or, measure the center bore with a caliper and see if another company shares and identical size and just buy those. Check ebay once you have the center bore diameter

I asked at discount tire and he told me my best bet was to look on ebay. He said they can get them but the manufacture's usually charge 20-30 per cap. I have not spoken to MRR directly.

The caps are 2 11/16" and I have looked on ebay, but people on there are also selling them for ~25 per cap.

I guess I'll just call a couple of local wheel shops and see and if not I'll just keep 'em open for now...
Thanks for your help

Call MRR, they are probably not that much if you talk to them directly. The tire shop is going to try and mark them up as much as they can.
