Staying simple on the Wheel question
Searched and find LOTS of info on 20's and 19's with aggressive offsets.
But not seeing much on the simple OEM setup with a lower offset.
Simple questions:
Standard
Front 19x8 +30 on a standard 225/40/19
Rear 19x8.5 +33 on a standard 245/40/19
I am looking to buy some new wheels, but I am looking to get a bit more
flush. Would simply going to a +20 on the offset work?
Whats the downside of putting 19x8.5 on all fours but keep the staggered tires? Same as the 18x8 on the perf. package
When do the studs and lugs become an issue of not threading enough?
Thanks for any replys

I'm not sure I'm following you.
Are you looking to keep OEM wheels (18's or 19's) but just want them to be more flush with the fender? Or are you just looking for wheels the same size as the OEM width and diameter, but lower offset?
If you add a spacer of any size you will need to replace the studs with longer ones or buy a spacer with built in studs so you still have enough length on the studs. I have heard that people get by with up to 5mm spacers on stock wheel studs, but 5mm wont do much for you unless you are trying to squeeze every last but to get the wheels as flush as possible.
As far as running staggered tires on wheels the same width. The wider rear tires will bulge compared to the front. A good example would be coupe 18's that are 18x8. The front 225/45/18 fit the 8" wheel nicely while the 245 rear tire had a little bulge to it. IMO it doesn't look that bad if you don't go to wide.
If you want to run staggered tires it's best to run staggered wheels as well so the tires fit the wheels the same. I don't see any benefit of running the same size wheels all around w/staggered tires.
I have sport package coupe that came with 18's... Which I have turned into
my wintersetup.
Looking to get my summer setup Not sure to stick with 18's or go 19's
but the width is my concern. I want to get a more flush look, but not have to worry about replacing studs. How far can I go from the stock before that come into play? I guess thats what im asking.
Thanks

The width of the rim has nothing to do with the wheel studs.
A 8" wide rim and a 11" wide rim will fit the hub the same. The offset of the wider wheel will be different, but the amount of the studs exposed for a lug to tighten the wheel down will be the same.
The only time you will need to extend your wheel studs is if you add a spacer between the hub and the wheel.
Does that makes sense?

Getting there, this is turning into wheels 101 thanks
Not looking at spacers. So if I was to go with a 8.5 rim with a 20 offset I'd be fine and it would give me the flusher(that a word) look I am looking for?

No problem.
So yes, if you go with a wider rim and lower offset the wheel wil fit more flush.
I think on a coupe a lot of people go with a 10.5" wide wheel for the rear and 9.5" front with an offset of around 20mm.

If you want to run 8.5" wide then I suggest getting offset around +5
You can go much wider, no point in buying aftermarket wheels in the OEM sizes.

if you get wheels with the appropiate offset for it to be flush with the fender, you will not have to run spacers. if you do not run spacers, you will have no need for extended studs.
I bought the car without OEM wheels.
It has 18x8 +35 ASA GT1 now. So anything is better than that. But it makes for a good winter setup.
I am just looking to to get closer to the OEM 19 setup which is what the car
'should' have come with. Just want to be bit more flush and stay on the low weight side on both tires and wheels. Not looking for a drop or a wide 10 width rim. Thinking of keeping it at 18 for the weight and selection.
If I could find a set of GOOD Ray's 19 OEM's I would jump on it. But all I find are curbed, rashed, banged up wheels.
So the next best thing is to go aftermarket while adding a better offset. Just a bit confused on the increased width and offset how you know what will fit the best. How does a 9.5 or 10.5 wheel fit in the same wheel well and not rub on the insides?

It's all about the proper offset.
There is plenty of room for a 10" wide wheel between the fender and the shock. There is even more room if you roll the inner lip on your fender, and if you want to go even wider you can add a bit of negative camber and stretch the tires...
It's all in what you are willing to do and what look you like.

You may or may not like the look/set-up but it give you a better understanding of how things work, look, and fit.

For sedans, but good as well.

I think ive been through every post in those and others a few times. When I bought my last wheels I searched and searched for the look I wanted, then decided on the style of wheel I wanted then went back and searched some more.
