Re: WILL THE STOCK SHOCKS WEAR OUT?
A shock is designed to control the release of energy from a particular spring stiffness.
Most shocks have a max 7" stroke range, when you lower you reduce this to 5-6" or less so in theory with a 20% stiffer spring you need at least a 20% stiffer shock over a reduced range [5"] ..............really the only way to accomplish this is a 40% stiffer shock in the nominal 7" range.
Just assume the oem shocks will wear out twice as fast, they are inexpensive and easy to change every 30,000 miles vs 60,000 miles with oem springs.
Really a function of roads and bumps/undulations per mile.
