BEst Sway bars

Ok I think the 350evo bars are probably the best sway bars available. And i am about to buy them soon. I just want everyone's opinions on if they agree with me or not before i waste my money in buying them. I figure i cant go wrong because the the japanese jgtc race teams all use the 350 evo sway bars for their 350z cars. They must feel these are the best thats why they use them.Any opinions would be appreciated. Thank You.

Re: BEst Sway bars

Consider that what works on a glass smooth race course may be to stiff for many streets with bumps/undulations.

Consider that racer will not race in the rain without rain tires and or softening the rear bars.

Always nice to have an adjustable where the standard setting is in the middle allowing you to go softer on demand......or if you made a mistake in calculations. Or if you change tire compounds or in cold weather [below 50F] when rear tires lose friction.

Re: BEst Sway bars

Do they have collars like the OEM and Stillen bar do? If not,
you will probably be disappointed. The Hotchiks bars don't
have them and some have reported problems with the bar
shifting.

Re: BEst Sway bars

Bar shifts because the isolated rear subframe moves under load more than the bar actually twists due to 4:1 motion ratio ~~0.75-<1.0".
Collars are a good thing to have as they keep the bar from moving side to side which can eventually wear out end links and support bushings.

Yes, the 350Evos do come with the collars and I believe they are the same ones you can get from McMasters.

Re: BEst Sway bars

hotchikis are going at $275.

Im only planning to add the Stillen rear sway at its softest
setting on my lowering spring setup using factory wheels/tires.

You should calculate how much stiffer you already are
from lowering springs, etc. and calculate how much stiffness
you really need vs road conditions and tires you're using than
just putting them on because pro's use it.

Re: BEst Sway bars

I just bought my Hotchkis from TitanMotorSports.com and was able to get in on a group buy for $250 shipped - best deal I've heard of yet. I believe Hotchkis allows for the stiffest setting of all the bars, but I also haven't heard of anyone going stiffer than the medium setting.

Regarding the collar issue - Nismo, Stillen, and OEM have collars integrated into the bar to prevent lateral shifting. Some Hotchkis owners have reported problems with knocking and other annoying sounds as a result. This is correctable though - if you do a search, some very recent postings provide part numbers for collars you can attach to the Hotchkis yourself, should they become problematic.

I went with the Hotchkis for the price, for the positive reviews I've read, and also because they use polyurethane bushings, rather than rubber or re-using the OEM bushings. From the people I've spoken with / exchanged posts with, the swaybar mod is immediately noticeable, provides much improved handling and reduced body roll. I suspect that any upgraded, adjustable swaybar is going to be a good bang for the buck mod.

Wow u guys make the Hotchkis sound so good... Hmm.. maybe ill buy that instead, but where can i get those collars? i Dont want my car to start knocking? Will it definitely be a problem? What are the chances that u will run into the collar problem if u purchase the Hotchkis sway bars??

Re: BEst Sway bars

the Hotchkis are actually the WORST sway bars... people like them just because theyre the cheapest...

think about it: all high-end performance parts makers have the collars (Nismo, Eibach, Stillen), but Hotchkis doesnt', and theyre the cheapest because they dont have the collars...

Hotchkis: no collars, 3-way adjustable $250
Stillen: collars, 3-way adjustable $275
Nismo: collars, non-adjustable $435
Eibach: collars, 3-way adjustable $350
Stock (Nissan): collars, non-adjustable

...its a no-brainer!

Re: BEst Sway bars

I was thinking the same but didn't want to offend any of the Hotchkis
owners. The Stillen bars are great.

Re: BEst Sway bars

Yeah - good logic. If it's the most expensive, it must be good. It has nothing to do with Stillen's chronic over-pricing, or import fees for Nismo products. A fool and his money are soon parted. An intelligent buyer will do some research on the G35driver.com site, weigh the positive and negative reviews of all the products, decide whether the reported hassles with Stillen installation are worth the extra cost, determine which offers the most adjustable and overall stiffest setting (Hotchkis), debate the pros and cons of OEM rubber versus polyurethane bushings, think about the benefits of greasable bushings, and then see where the best value can be found.

For some, money is not an object, and Hotchkis are still desireable. Hey, if you're interested, I'll be selling my OEM swaybars. They're non-adjustable, have collars and I'll let them go for $500. For that price, they must be good, right?
