Whats the Difference? Plz help!

I am in the market for a camber kit. I wanted to purhcase a SPC camber kit for the rear sometime this week, but I am kinda confused. Whats the diff. between SPC camber kit #72055 and camber kit #72050.

Description for #72050
link: http://iapdirect.com/item.asp?invid=785
$90.00

350Z Rear Camber/ Toe kit

These cams replace the OE camber and toe adjustment cams and provide additional camber & toe changes. Adjustment slots will need to be elongated using 85125 rotary files or equivalent.

Tool - 85125 - Rotary File Set

Rear Adjustment range: Camber ±3.00¡ Toe ±3.00¡
Installation time: .6 hr/side
Required: 1 kit per wheel
Applications
Nissan: 2002 & Up 350Z

Description for #72050

$210.00

Pro Series 350Z Extreme Rear Kit

This is the perfect kit for the lowered Z. Provides plenty of adjustment for camber and comes with a larger offset toe cam to bring the toe angle back into range. Use the 85125 rotary files to elongate the OE toe slots.

Tool - 85125 - Rotary File Set

Rear Adjustment range: Camber ±4.00¡ Toe ±3.00¡
Installation time: .6 hr/side
Required: 1 kit per wheel
Applications
Nissan: 2002 & Up 350Z

----------------------------------
-Both kits require a rotary file. First of all, what is a rotary file? How much do they cost? Do i need the rotary file tools if I am going to get it installed at a shop?
-All i want to do is fix my rear camber. Will the $90 kit suffice?
-Whats the difference between the camber kits?

Re: Whats the Difference? Plz help!

I have the SPC rear camber kit (part number 72050). The difference between the two is simple, the cheaper kit is only for the cam bolts which give you slight camber / tow adjustment, while the more expensive kit actually includes new adjustable camber arms as well as a new cam bolt, which is what you'll need if you've lowered your G. The cheaper kit is for those who are running at lets say stock height but want slight camber / toe adjustment. Kind of to fine tune their suspension. The more expensive complete kit is a must for anyone who's lowered their car and or running larger wheels.

A more common name to a rotary file, and one you'll probably be more familar with is a tool we've all come to love and know as the Dremel or equivalent. It's used to gring out the oem holes to accept the new hardware. It sounds more complicated than it really is.

If you take it to a shop, more than likely they'll have some sort of roraty file on hand, so you shouldn't have anything to worry about. Installing these parts are easy (I had both side on in about an hour and half, working in my garage), but remember you'll need to have your car aligned once they're on, so you may want to get the whole job done at alignment shop. That way you'll pay one price.

So, if you're at stock height (no aftermarket springs, coil overs, etc.) and running 18-20" wheels, you really don't need anything (for every day use), but if you want to fine tune your suspension, then get the cam bolts.

If you're lowered your G by at least .75", and are running 18-20" wheels, then get the more complete kit as the cam bolts alone won't give you enough camber adjustment to help bring everything back or close to oem specs.

Oh and by the way, the SPC parts are TOP NOTCH! Solid construction, execllent craftsmanship! Prior installing these arms I had the Kinietix arms, but sold them to a Z owner, because the SPC proved to have more adjustability and its what I needed on my G with 20" wheels and being lowered 1.75"

Good luck with your ride! I hope this all helped...

Ducatiguy,

So a camber kit is highly recommended for people who have lowered their G?

Well, if you want to get your camber back or closer to oem specs, then yes you should get a camber kit, or else you'll have to deal with the fact that you'll be wearing out your pricey tires (inside edges) much much quicker! A Camber kit will also help get more contact patch area on to the ground for better handling and wet traction. Negatibe camber in the rear is good to a point, but their is a limit and how you use the car is also important. On the street for everyday use, you need to set a middle ground, or else you'll actually see a decrease in traction, as you'll be riding on the edge of your tires. It's a give and take mod, so with the help of a camber kit, you can better fine tune your suspension and keep everything rolling perfectly.
