I am doing the same thing right now.

I am wondering how much paint you ended up using for 4 wheels so I don't buy too little or too much.

Btw, yours turned out really nice!

I used 3 cans of primer, 4 cans of base coat and 2 cans of clear. Get the steel city instead of the jb weld. It will make ur life easier. Also wet sand it and buff it after to make it showroom status

I have tried many different methods of finishing wheels (for 5 years or so now), and jb weld is the best product I've ever used. It has a bad rep as far as mechanical applications are concerned, but for wheels its the easiest to work with and can take more abuse than the actual rim lol. Nice mini write up

Im def not knocking JB weld; I have used it also and I know it does what you need it to do. But for sh(*ts and giggles try the Quick Steel ( misnamed in previous post). It is a nice product that seems durable and cuts down on time

Wow jb weld huh?

My g19s have some major curb rash. Might give this a shot.

Has anyone had the jb weld rash repair for a long period of time yet?
Hows it holdin up no cracks ?

Also do you guys know if JB weld will hold up to power coating temps?

I was going for the flat black look that's why I didn't buff it or clear coat it.

Hey bro,

I'm in the process of DIY my wheels too and i want to ask you what brand color you used for yours, also for the primer. That's some excellent job you did there.

Thanks in advance

I used

Duplicolor grey primer
Rustoleum Wheel paint - Graphite
Rustoleum Wheel paint - Clear

Take your time and lay thin coats. Go by the directions in between coats. You can finish all the painting in one day. You shouldnt have to sand between coats unless you hit one spot too heavy. Also, some people wait the next day to apply clear. You dont have too and i would suggest against it. Lay 3 or 4 coats of clear so that you can wet sand and buff. If you do that it will look just like it was powder coated. If you have taken the wheels off the tires then let them dry for a few days before trying to get the wheels re-mounted b/c a sloppy technician will take the paint off some of the lips of the rims and youll end up pimp slapping someone
