Stern St-1's on a sedan
 

I wanted to get opinions on these wheels. I have been quoted $1800 on a set of these in 19x8.5 and 19x9.5 at 35mm offset w/ 235/35/19 & 265/30/19 Nitto Nt555 tires. I wanted to see if anyone knows if these will fit a lowered sedan without rubbing. I think these wheels are a good buy, but I don't know about stern's reliability. Does anyone have any info on this company, other than its a branch off of adr, which isn’t known to have the best quality wheels.

hum..... i have a friend selling his PIAAs that look just like that. He said about 2k with tires.. But the tires are pretty worn out... I don;t know

They look like a rip-off of the PIAA wheels.

For the sedan;
If you don't want rubbing, those offsets won't work.
But it also depends on how much neg camber you have
& are willing to live with.

Thats what i was thinking, but i have had multiple shops tell me that that size and offset would fit on the sedan. I didn't think there where right tho.

What is correct, and what is available are two different things . . . With pretty good camber spec.s I ran 19x9.5 +42 rear, 19x8.5 +38 front. no rubb a dubs no problems whatsoever. +35 rear will definitely rub unless you're only running a super stretched tire and alot of neg. camber. I ordered a set of 20x9.5 but modified my offset to a +44, just in case I wanted to slam the car. Only a handful of wheels are available in custom configurations (i.e. HRE & Work). Of course if you run a 9" wide rear wheel, you can modify the offset specifications, I mean you could probably run an 8.5" wide wheel in the rear with a looooooow loow offset - depends on what is available in the wheel you purchase - happy shopping!

so if +35 will rib... what offsets would be good? I think the 9.5" comes in 25,35,38... and the 8.5" comes in 32 and 35

Any ideas how much these wheels weigh? I think that they look pretty good, and I'd seriously consider buying them if the weight is under 23 pounds (I think I'm a loser on that one).

actually to correct the ignorant, the piaa wheel is actually a rip off of a work wheel. and to add on top of that, the work wheel was brought about after a similar design in the past made by a company called speed star racing, which is now presently known as SSR.

If I remember correctly, Stern was actually a JDM company a long time ago. But as far as I konw, it is now non-existent.

Just wondering whats the wheels weight on stock 17'' ??

FWIW....
If you don't have the drop done yet, I would do that first.
Then get it to an alignment rack & get the camber where you want it. (adj kits if req'd)
Then take some test measurements.
With a jack load the suspension & measure from the stock
wheel (7" +45) & extrapolate your clearance

if you get the 19x 8.5 in the front and the 19 x 9.5 in the rear the front at 35mm and the rear at 38mm should work no problem. look up illg35's posts i believe he is running 19x8.5 +19 x 9.5 with a 38mm offset all the way around. they look nice and flush.

Don't count on it.
A lot depends on the drop & amount of neg camber.
I suspect Martin has a lot of neg camber on his setup.

But there is no way I'm dropping large coin on wheels before I do some preliminary measurements of my car. & follow up with some test fitments.
