Sedan Wheel offsets form Tire Rack and more....

I once saw an offset chart from I believe tire rack that listed wheel sizes, offsets that would fit, and also tires that would then fit without rubbing. Anyone have this chart? Also, are there any advantages of going with a staggered setup? Just looks cool and better grip in the rear? Thinking 18 x 7.5 front with 225/4518 and 18 x 18.5 with 255/4018 in the rears. Any thoughts appreciated.

Here's the chart.
SEDAN WHEEL CHART
There will be as many opinions as there are rides.
If you haven't tried searching yet, you'll find tons of info.

I've tried to answer this by searching but need clarification. I have a 2003 Sedan with the original 16 inch, 205-65-16's. I'd like to go to at least a 255-40-18 all the way around (a pretty good size for the circumference/speedometer). So I believe an 18x8.5" wheel will do, but the offsets have me puzzled. Can I go with a common offset and make it work with no rubbing and no performance hit? Or do I need to go with a higher offset in the rear to avoid exceeding the inside fender line (by looking at the chart, the 8.5" w/ 45mm offset crosses the inside fender line in the rear). Also, will the 45mm offset work in front for this size wheel/tire (remember its a Sedan)? It looks like the front will be OK by the fitment chart. Also, I assume the chart we see here applies to my 03 sedan w/ orig 16's?

If somebody can help or give suggestions I'd appreciate it, thanks!!!

With an 8.5" wide wheel I think it'd be better to go with a 40mm offset instead of a 45.
See this thread.

We don't have a chart online so to speak on what offsets will and wont work. However, all of the wheels listed in our Upgrade Garage will fit your vehicle correctly. The widths are shown, but not always the offsets. As long as your provide the exact vehicle info there wont be any fitment issues. If your looking at a specific wheel I can provide the offset. Just click HERE and provide your vehicle details to the right

Yes staggered looks cool. These cars are better served with at least 245 tread width in the front, don't go narrower then that. Their's no reason why you can't run 255/40-18 on 18x8.5" on 40mm offsets all the way around.

Thanks dklau33. However, after going to that thread I'm still a bit confused. With common 18x8.5 255-40-18 45mm offset all around, I can see why it'd be close in the front, thus the suggestion for 40mm offset I assume? From the data I'm seeing it looks like there's lots of room in the rear but not in front, which is now leaning me toward a staggard setup, maybe 18x8.0" 245-40-18 45mm offset in front, and 18x8.5" 255-40-18 in the rear, with a bigger offeset to get the clearance on the outside, maybe a 50mm or even larger offset?? Does this make any sense at all? thanks.

from a looks standpoint, you'll (probably) want a numerically lower offset which will put the wheels toward the outside and will look cooler.

i personally run +35 18x8 with 245/40/18 all around (would have went wider, but 245 is max width for autoX class i run in, 2.3% shorter which is pushing it)

Gsedan35s suggestion of 18x8.5 with 255/40/18 +40 all around sounds like a nice option... remember with staggered, you can't rotate...

I have another question. Will 245/40/18s work with an 18x8.5 +43 on the sedan all around?

clearance from strut housing to inside wheel will be 17mm less. Outside edge of wheel will extend an extra 21mm.

you'll like the look of +35, my package is awesome

under $2k to your door from tire rack, 18x8 +35 asa ar1, 245/40/18 pilot sport 2 which are probably the best damn tire out there right now, they ride very nice, are good in the wet (although I don't care about that), and grip PLENTY

p.s. in case you didn't know where he got his 'extend 21mm' from, here is the link, cool tool:

http://toy4two.home.mindspring.com/offset.html

my setup is 23mm extension

With a 8.5 inch wide wheel on the sedan you can go as low as a +38 mm offset. This will put a 245 tire right at the edge of the fender well. A +40 will work just fine as well. Scrap the +50 thought, that would make the wheel way too inset if it even fits. Sorry I don't know about the +45. The ideal offset for an 8.5 inch wide wheel is +38 or +40. I have 19x8.5 +38 front and back on my sedan and it's perfect.
