Let me get this right...people are bitching over brands of wheels?

If you get off to having "original" rims and are pissed off because other companies now recreate them, welcome to America. It's called capitalism.

I'd rock the hell out of the varrstoen ES1s on my G.

I get what you're saying but (function the same) is debatable..but there's been enough arguing in this thread so let's give it a rest. I'd rather not have to clean this topic up.

I understand quality isn't the same. How many people hit a pot hole and bend or crack a rim? Very rare. Wheels have standards and need to meet compliance to be sold in the us.

To who? You?

If they are good enough for someone else to buy them then the quality isn't a problem. Some people don't really care to have top of the line items. Its a personal pref and to me they look just as good as any other set of rims out there.

Sooo if anyone has a set of ES 1s they want to sell hot me up.

Sort through the OEM 19 appreciation thread. Soooo many good options and setups to check out with the rays. I personally love my rays aside from their curb rash

Oem19s > varrstoens IMO. Seen them in person, they look like they're made out of plastic and the fake rivets/bolts made me LOL.

If you have cheap cast wheels, it is actually pretty common. Also you are wrong (yet again) about compliance. Wheels do not need to meet any compliance at all unless it is OEM equipment. The JWL (Japan Light Alloy Wheel) and VIA (Vehicle Inspection Association) have nothing at all do to with US standards. US stardards are either SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers) or ISO (International Standards Organization), both of whith Varrstoen lack. TUV is the German version and actually the most stringent of all. HRE is one of the few with TUV certs. No wheels can be imported or sold in Germany without TUV cert. In US all an importer needs to do is claim a part is for "off-road use only" and they can import and sell anything they want.

JWL is a self "certified" test that is close to meaningless on it's own due to shady industry practices. It's performed in-house by the manufacturer, and it's cheated in numerous ways due to zero regulation. There is no master list as it's self certified, so you can't verify what is real and what is not. It's easy to fake (companies stamp many of the logos onto anything), and there are many wheels that do not even conform to this basic test even though they claim they do. VIA is just a third-party verification of JWL standards, but again also very common to be faked. Turns out it is quite easy for Chinese knock offs to stamps their wheels with fake Japaneese certs.
