255/35 on OEM 19's, need speedometer adjust/gear?
Hi guys,
Looking to get new tires, as the Nankang Sport NSII's are hard as rocks and look even worse...
I understand that tread width is measured from sidewall to sidewall, not actual tread, but come on... (pics below)
So, looking at 255/35's or even 265/35's (depending on pricing and availability), the math states that rev's per mile are off enough that I may need a new speedometer gear?
Also, does a 255/35 enlarge the wheel well enough to look "off"? It matches the front's profile almost exactly, but the 245/40 tire is bulkier in the wheel well so I have "look" concerns.
I'm just in a quandry and not sure what I need to figure it out, as I can't very well try on tires, can I?
Any info would be appreciated, as I continue the research.
Thanks!
Edit: I think I am going to go with 255/40's, as the 1010tires.com comparison and math come out too great a difference with the 35's. The 275/35's are math-good, but not sure how practical it is. I might say screw it all and put Mickey Thompson off roads on, I'll let you know.
Edit #2: 255/40's are 3.52% taller than the fronts, providing possible VDC issues? It may just be easier to go stock sizes.
