Need specs for wheels, tires, offsets, etc.?
I have a 2004 G35 coupe. It is AT, so it does not have the brembo brake set up. It has 18" wheels on it now, but I would like to put something different on. I understand the stock wheels are 8 inches wide and run a 245 in back and a 225 in front. I am looking at some wheels that are 8.5 inches wide but still 18" diameter. Will I be able to mount the stock tires on these 8.5 inch wheels? Also, what is the deal with the offset? What offset do I need to work with a 18x8.5 wheel? I just want to change the wheels, I don't really want to buy new tires if I don't have to.

Thanks for your response. I continued to do some research and I think I have found out some solid info about the stock wheels. They are 18x8 with a 30mm offset. All wheels are the same even though they run larger tires on the back.
So, you are running 8.5 all around? Do they hang out farther than the stockers? If so, how much? Any problems? If you were to buy wheels again, what would you do different?
Thanks for the tip about the fronts. I was told that I could mount 225s to an 8.5" wheel . . . but I have been told a lot of crap lately.

At the angle of the picture of my car, you can see quite easily how my front 8.5"/+25 rim fit in relation to the fender.If I had to do it over again, I'd probably opt for 19" rims, but my rims don't come in 19", and I didn't want to get the PIAA Super Rossa which look similar, because they are heavier, and the back rim was 10.5", and I didn't want to run that big a rim in the back.
You can prob run a 225 on an 8.5", but I wouldn't if I were you. The TL's come with 235 on an 8.5" wheel (A-Spec kit). And those guys have been complaining that the tire is stretched on the rim, and they keep getting curb rash. So for 05', Acura changed the A-Spec rim, to an 8" rim with 235 tires.
If you get 8.5" all around, you can keep your back two tires, but just spring for 2 tires for the front, in a 245/40-18.
That's a great shot. You don't happen to have a side shot of your car do you? I would like to see a shot looking at the driver's side. Also, what wheels do you have?

F: 18x8.5"/+25mm Michelin Pilot All Season 245/40-18
R: 18x9.5"/+20mm Michelin Pilot All Season 275/40-18
Sometimes I wonder if I should've gotten 19", since everyone else seems to be getting 19" for their G. And the new stock rims are 19". Oh well... Tire shop said these rims weigh 18.5 pounds for the front, and 19.5 pounds for the backs. I never weighed them myself.
