OEM 6MT Sedan Sport wheel, purpose tire selecting

I am currently running 245/45r18 Hankook Ventus V12 Evo's on my G now, they are well needing replacing. Honestly, The tire was past the point to where I'd be able to push the car when I purchased it. I have since added bolt ons, traction is now next to nothing. I am looking to replace them with Continental ExtremeContact DW's, not DWS for clarity... I was wondering with the going from a 100Y load rated tire, down to a 96Y, would it be performance beneficial to switch the tire size of the front back to OEM spec, 235/45, while keeping the rear 245/45? In theory thinking with less "bulge" of the tire on the front, reducing possible change of understeer on quick corner entry but, keeping the rear contact patch as wide as possible? The 10mm may not even be much a difference to matter, but it may. Anyone else tried a tire setup like this on the factory sport 18's, or have insight to this idea?

I am between the Continental ExtremeContact DW,Hankook Ventus V12 Evo K110, & Nitto Invo. Not 100% on which tire yet, still reading reviews. Continental seems to be the best bet so far.

Thanks in advance,

-Jared

Jared I'm happy to see I'm not going crazy. I, too, had traction issues with the V12s after adding bolt ons and a tune and got kinda flamed here when I would talk about it. I'm super **** when it comes to buying new things and spend a lot of time researching and talking to people if I can about a product I want. I ended up going with the Invos and couldn't be happier. The amount of grip they provide is outstanding, they are super quiet, and the tread design is the ****.

I have read that an all square set up is the best for track use (or pushing it a little on the street) but can't confirm that fact. I run 225/40/19 and 245/40/19 on 8.5F and 9.5R and haven't pushed the car hard enough to tell if that's a better setup than 245s all around. Maybe someone more knowledgeable about tire sizes will see this and chime in.

You sound just like me lol, I appreciate your input man. Spent about 2 weeks researching springs to properly pair with my Bilstein HD's. The Hankook is a great tire don't get me wrong, I have just read biased opinions based between the DW, Invo, and V12. Great to hear you're seeing improvements on the Invo tire. I agree a square setup would probably be the best bet, was just interested in exploring a different sized front tire option for turning response. I love the look of the 245 over the 18x7.5 wheel all around, and haven't noticed a softness of sidewall on the Hankook. Just, not looking to run into that issue with another tire, I have however heard that the Continentals have a soft sidewall. Any others running any 3 of these tires on OE wheels, results & sizes?

I ran a set of DW last season and they were great. Tho I only have a Z-tube + Popcharger but I could never chirp my tires. Grip is great in both dry and wet. Ride is very comfortable and road noise is non-existent. I was very sad to switch over to winters for these few months because I miss those tires dearly.

I'm in the process of getting rid of my oem sized DW because I got some new rims, but I'm going to put another set of DW on there because I loved the first set. This time only wider due to 9.5/10.5 rims.

Edit: With regards to soft sidewalls, I bumped my pressures to 36 and they seem to do a bit better.

I decided to go with the Nitto NT-05's. Got them in yesterday and will give a review after a bit of limit testing. Thanks for the replies guys.
