All-season tire recommendation for 350Z 18's?

I tried searching but couldn't find my answer.

I have a bone-stock 2003 5AT 2WD Sedan with 350Z 18's (the "touring" wheel, the common six-spoke OEM ones). I need a set of tires for them that will actually function in snow, since my winter beater just took a dump on me. What size, brand, and model do you recommend?

The new General GMax AS-03s have gotten great reviews on Tirerack, and so have the Goodyear Eagle GT Vs. Both are all-seasons. I'm debating between either of them for my G as well.

I recommend getting a second set of cheap rims with proper snow tires.

All-seasons = good in no seasons

What about the Kumho Ecsta 4X KU22? I had a set of Kumho Ecsta ASX on my old Galant VR4 and loved them.

What size do you recommend?

I haven't read any reviews on tire sites yet about them, they're pretty new. As for size, 235/45 18 will be the same height as the original sedan tires so your speedometer will read correctly. You could also do a 245/45 18 which will be a bit taller than OEM, but you ~might~ wind up with rubbing on the fenderlips if you're lowered and drive with a few passengers.

I agree, dont fall for this "ultra high performance all-season tire trend"

I'll never understand the logic of going all-season in a high-performance car.

Some people will argue that they're spending twice as much on tires by having two sets... to that I say "But your tires last twice as long, since they're only on half the year."

Some people will argue that it's a hassle to swap tires twice a year... to that I say "But you're supposed to rotate your tires anyways, and having a second set of rims makes the swap a 20 minute job."

Be smart, and get snow tires.

I would stick with the 235/45 as the narrower tire will do better in the a/s side of things. Look at Conti DWS as the strongest a/s performer. A bit of sport in that tire also if you want to push them at times. Another popular one is Yoko's Envigor, and Kumho's 4X is doing well but hasn't been through a full winter yet.

Continental DWSs are what I'd recommend for all-seasons. Hands down the most popular one we've paired with our wheels.

I have the DWS and have some weird wear with them, they have nice grip and great traction in the wet. But After 27k They are almost out which sucks as 90% of my driving is highway.

Do you have photos of the wear you're experiencing?

Most of the people that have them love them!

^ I have them to 35psi and they are wearing exactly like over inflation(5/32 on the shoulders and 3/32nd on the inner), they are very sensitive I suppose to pressure. 32psi is what I switched too now, but I dont see how that will have that big of a change.

Hmm... That's interesting. Didn't realize that they could be that sensitive to tire pressure.
