Another tire thread but hey, I am in the tire section

I have done a little homework (and ask a couple friend that have them) and I see that the Hankook V12 and Bridgestone RE760 have 'good enough for me' ratings. I can get them for ~$1060.00 CAN. I need summer tires for my new (used) wheels, size 245-35-20 and 275-30-20

What about the following specific tires? Any one here used these. Are they good or bad? Please try and keep it about these tires.

Falken FK452 - $840.00 CAN
General G-Max AS03 - $950.00 CAN
Sumitomo HTRZ3 - $960.00 CAN
Yokohama S-Drive - $1,050.00 CAN

I don't drive hard or track and I have winter tires on my OEM wheels.

If you don't drive hard nor track, why not get all season performance tires?

I recommend Potenza RE960AS Pole Position. 970AS is out, but its size availability is still limited. Besides, you should be able to get 960AS in close out price ATM...

 

^^Looks like OP is running dedicaed summer/winter set ups so he wants the best tire for the right season.

I hear the Falken f452s get loud after 7-8k miles where as the V12's stay rather quiet. IIRC, reviews on the V12s were better.

not sure about the other brands/models

 

I have the 452's and they are ok. They gripped well in the canyons without much squealing. Good steering feel response for the price. Mediocre grip for the price. doesn't tend to follow road imperfections as much as my other set of Pirelli's. Feels disconnected in the wet though. Yes, they have gotten noisier after 50% tread.

 

I wouldn't necessarily run the FK's again...my fronts feathered and rears didn't last. T1Rs got loud, BadYear F1's were crap, Nitto Invos didn't last either. Got my eye on a set of RE970AS.

 

Ive only had my Sumitomo's on for a day, but I'm liking them. They feel smoother than my allseason bridgestones were, and definately have more grip. Road noise appears to be slightly higher but I'm attributing that to my going up a size in rims. Sooooo yeah a bit early for any real feedback, but so far they are in line with the reviews.

 

The V12's might be a little overkill for the type of driving you are doing. I'd look at the RE760 or the Yoko S-Drive. Of the two, I send a lot more 760's out the door. Great wet/dry, quiet, wears well, etc. Overall a very nice dd tire. Call me when ready!

 

I just went from Falken 452 to the V12, wow, no more tracking and 4dB quieter on the highway and the bumps feel less harsh. So far my 2nd favorite tire next to pirelli pzero. I didnt like the 452 in the rain either.

 

Of those choices I'd probably go S.Drive.

I use V12's & love them, super quiet and comfy & also grippy for when you do feel the need to make a quick turn.

I got my DPE w Hankook V12's installed today at SimplyTire in North York.
Thanks to everyone for your opinions and helpful information.

I took a few quick picks when I got home.

Oddly my TPMS light came on and didnt go off during the 100km trip home. They were to transfer my OEM sensors into these wheels so I will give it another day before I make a call, just to make sure.
