Also....volks arent as light as ppl think either. the sf winnings and sf challenges weight close to 30lbs in g35 fitment.

^that's because most people don't understand that forged doesn't automatically mean lightweight

varrstoens are not that bad. my friend has a set of volk ce28n on his 240sx but since he loves the volks he only tracks on the 2.2.2s he slides on them he just abuse them. he even hit a curb once they're pretty beat up but they still hold up. he's about to get them machined and powder coated. it just depends on the driver and the kind of enviroment he/she drives in.

I'm glad nothing major happened besides that one wheel. Especially the fact that you were not hurt.

Man... I "ABUSED" my 20" Volk GT30s on stretched tires and all four survived with no damages on them... I've ran over multiple pot holes, dips, bumps, manhole cover, and etc at considerably higher speed than 50...

I guess all it takes for them to crack is, like you said, JUST THE RIGHT angle, position, and spot. It sucks to crack a real expensive wheel, but sometimes **** happens.

Even with Volk's 2 piece forged wheels, they are not light at all. However, they ARE lighter than most other competitive models. Where Volk wheels really shine are their ONE PIECE forged lines such as TE, RE, CE, and newer G line of wheels. Some of those wheels are ridiculously light and strong at the same time.

To OP, good luck with your wheel situation. If I were you, I'd go find another same wheel to replace the cracked one, but I understand that the current situation left you a sour taste in your mouth. Regardless, I hope you find the best solution for your own good. Good luck!

No way in hell you'll see me driving a car worth 10k at best with wheels worth 3k lol...i personally think wheels are susceptible to way too much damage to spend that type of money on them. That's just my opinion

I agree with Jae Ive had this car since I was 16 Im not really into dumping money into it like I used to be. I graduate college in 2 years, and can hopefully get a G37 soon after. Then I will gladly buy 3000k wheels for it but now I just dont think its worth it anymore.

lol you spent the higher amount of money thinking they can withstand ANYTHING....

Let me guess, you also don't check tire pressure very often do you?

In contrast, I had a set of ADRs that cost well under $1000 as beaters on my Civic, and the lip bent when I drove over a good sized branch (w/ stiff 35 sidewalls). At least it took hitting a huge pot hole at a pretty high speed to break a Volk wheel.

Unfortunately no wheel is indestructible. The angle at which the hit occurred, speed, depth, etc. will all play a part in whether or not it will crack or bend. In either case, glad you're OK.

so if the tire were at the recommended psi, this wouldn't have happened?

Wow. After spending lots of time here, this is the first time I have seen or heard of this. Definitely tarnished the image of these high end wheels in my mind. I love my stockers and fatty tires.
Sorry to hear about the situation though.
