Exclamation Bent / damaged / dented wheel - How do I tell???

Gentlemen,

What is the best way to tell if you have a bent/damaged/dented wheel? Who would be the best person to go to and what kind of machinery would they need to have?

My steering wheel is shaking at highway speeds STILL, after checking everything possible...rotors, wheels, tires, balanced (2x), rotation, etc....

Running out of options...

At this point, I would take it to a specialized shop, or take it to the Infiniti Dealer but prepare to pay $125 for the diagnostic fee.

Are you sure you had a qualified mechanic check everything? I still think you have a bent rim or an unbalanced/out of round tires.

Had the same issues from a set I bought from a forum member. Had it balanced a couple of times and the vibrations were still there. Eventually went to a shop in town known for alignments. They have a Hunter machine just like most reputable shops--but unlike other shops, they told me one of my rims were bent and could send it to one of their partner shops that could fix it for $150. Told them to go ahead and got the rims fixed and perfectly balanced the same afternoon. They even gave me a print out for the balancing. Bottom line, I would definitely go to a specialist.

You could try to move the front tires to the back of the car if they aren't different width and see if that helps. I had a slight vibration that went away when I did a routine rotation. Also, you can probably get the alignment checked for free at some places(check paper for coupons, they'll check it free so they can sell you they alignment). IDK if you will have any luck but both these things can be done for next to nothing, otherwise I would agree you need to bring it to a specialist. Also you may want to keep these threads about your vibrations consolidated so you don't keep getting the same suggestions from different people in different threads about the same issue.

Have u hit anything with the rims? Take the wheels off and inspect them. They might be bent.. Also, when the guy balance the rims make sure he knows what he is doing.. Also, u might consider checking the bushings
