Need advice on tires for 2007 G35X

Hi all.
My first post here and hopefully you can help me out.
I have a 2007 G35X that takes 225/55/17 tires. I need to get a set of tires, but money is kind of tight (can't really spent $500-600 on a new set). So I have been thinking of getting some used ones for now.
I can get decent used ones with about 8/32 thread left, but the problem is that they are in set of 2's, which means that the front and rear axles will have different thread patterns.

Have you tried installing different patterns on an AWD version? Also, what is the acceptable thread depth difference between the axles? Lastly, have you tried other sizes in 17 inches on stock rims (fyi, mine is in stock condition)?

Thank you

Dont worry about tread patteren the size is most important with awd.Front and rear tires have to within a certain % in size.If there is to much difference in size you will screw up.the transfer case! When you buy tires I guess you will run all season tires.I run hankook all season tires on my x.I got a set of four ventus v2 concept tires mounted and balanced for $525 otd.Just be careful with used tires size is more important than tread patteren.Im not sure of the percentage of tire size difference to be safe.Im sure someone here will.fill you in to be safe.

All tires have to be within 1/16 of an inch in diameter. The reason for this is because it would confuse our VDC to think one of the wheels is constantly sliipping (one takes longer to complete a revolution).
Just spend a few extra bucks and buy new. Much safer bet that way.

Thank you. Actually, I will not be installing different size tires on different wheels. My question was whether it is ok to heave tires with say about 9/32nd left on the front and 7/32 in the back. The difference that I referred to in my original post was regarding the thread depth difference. I know some AWD's in the market are very picky about this.

As I understand, it will be OK to have different patterns on each axle as long as the tires are the same size.

Has anyone, installed say 225/50/17's, 225/60/17's or some other size on all 4 wheels?

^^^That won't work. The tire heights are different if your running a 50 vs a 60 series tire. That's a cm difference between the two. Which would be to much I believe.

I am talking about either four 225/50/17 or four 225/60/17.

Here's some cheap sizes for you.

Achilles is the cheapest one with a brand I recognize. It's the cheapest one I'd go with. Never heard of Blacklion or Mayrun.

if you can afford a little more, the Falken Ziex would be better.

You can install either a 225/50 or 225/60 on your tires. As long as ALL four are the same.

As far as the tread wear on the tires if getting them used. I wouldn't keep get them too different from each other. I'd say 1/32 or 2/32 difference.
