Wheel Spacer Question

Hello all!

I installed ichiba v2's (20 front, 25 rear with oem 18's ) 2 years ago myself. no issues . then took my car to a shitty shop in allentown (pa) to have my brakes replaced (this was right when i got the car and didnt know how to do anything myself. now i do lol) .
i went to do the brakes last night and found out the guy in allentown used andre the giant to tighten to nuts on the spacer. 1 on the front driver side and 2 on the front passenger side would not come off and stripped before i could get them. we took a torch to the driver side and then ended up cutting a V into the spacer to get the stud off completely. and gave up ont he passenger side.

here comes the question... can i just go buy extended lug nuts to put on the spacer? im thinking higher grade for sure, but longer than the .0000000001 inches the v2 nuts have. if anyone has any suggestions for brand/length/type, it would be greatly appreciated.
and just a small plug... if anyone has a 20mm ichiba v2 , and potentially 2 of them for sale, please PM me!

also sidenote... my rotors were ridiculously warped, and i threw the z1 non brembo kit, SOOO much better. i forgot what brakes were supposed to feel like

These are Bolt on spacers right? I had trouble getting my off as well after being on there several years. If I remember correctly, your wheels need to be able to accept the extra stud length beyond the spacers.

These were my rears and had no space, so I couldn't use those because the studs hit the back of the wheel. The fronts were deeper and worked fine. Point here is don't use extend studs unless you know they will clear the back of your wheel. I think that Ichiba just sucks and those nuts get welded on over time due to heat.

Just for future reference, whenever getting tires installed when you have spacers, take the spacers off before going to the shop, get your tires put on, then drive home and put the spacers back on and TQ to 80ft/lb, then go get an alignment. Don't let a shop remove/install your wheels with spacers on your car.

Correct. They will tighten with a gun and for the utmost safety sake, spacer lugs should be tightened to 80ft/lb. Air guns go well beyond that and you don't want a lug snapping going 80mph.

You would have to check and see if they'd clear into the back of the wheels. I know the space behind my Volks was minimal deep but not very wide. Those Ichiba nuts are so flimsy and weak given the important function they serve. Anything would seem like an improvement if it would fit. Good luck.

As far as the threads and the style tho, would I fine to just buy oem lug nuts you think? Or would I need a narrower nut to fit in the hole in the spacer

You would need to know the thread pitch. Nissan is 12x1.25 but I don't know the Ichiba (I'll assume its the same if the ichiba nut threads onto the OEM studs). As far as that being a special nut for the application, I wouldn't be surprised since clearance is an issue. I remember them being tapered, so that would need to match whatever you install.

ya, i dont know what size thickness of nut i can afford... if i get mabye an extended oem one i coudl tighten it from outside of the spacer itself. and i believe they would fit in the gap of the wheel.

does anyone know the diameter of the spacer hole at open end?
or if oem nuts will work for sure? i thought tuner nuts were special at the bottom?

I don't know if I would trust any of those spacers after they have been over torqued, stripped, torched, and cut.

Just get 4 new H&R spacers and call it a day. Yes, the studs/pitch/nuts on the spacers will fit the stock lug nuts and studs. At least mine do.

All spacers should be torqued properly. I did a LOT of research before I bought them and have come across some horror stories.
