Zeal Coilovers

It doesn't seem like very many people have tried these coilovers so I decided to take a chance and check them out.

The ride on the softest setting is still very solid feeling and not bouncy or unforgiving and seems to create a much more direct feel for daily driving. I've only had a chance to hit a couple freeway offramps with some speed and it's impressive but the Auto-X is this weekend where I can really test these out to try and produce some lap times.

Many thanks to Myles over at Racecomp Engineering (410-730-RACE) for his knowledge and fast shipping including the next day shipment of the two rear lower shock bolt nuts that seem to have been missing from my kit.

Here's a couple pictures from the install, hopefully it will stay dry long enough for me to get a full picture soon

The front looks like you can adjust them all the way to the bottom... Am I correct in what I'm seeing...?

While I admire the brand and construction, I don't follow through on their choice of spring rates. They transfer big chunk of roll stiffness to the front, not something that will help them rack up sales, in spite of the name. Their are two 350Z owners on my350z.com that have them, one of them is running rear upper spring seats that I modified for the owner.

Zeal function V6 coilover (Monotube construction, adjustable dampner) $2855
Full-length adjustment and height adjustment for separate setting of the height and spring preload
Spring rates 560/448
Stiffer then oem by F+78% R+31%
Transfers +47% roll stiffness to front

The front is threaded all the way down, so you could lower the car past drivable if you wanted.. or up past stock if you wanted that too

Considering the front is so much stiffer, the car seems to generate considerably more front traction and less understeer. So far I know that the 5th setting (out of 6) is considerably more stiff then I can live with on downtown streets yet 1 is reasonable.. I'll post the rest of my findings on Sunday after the autox

Any further comments on these coilovers? I am beginning to look at suspension setups. I had these on my Rx7, but it's a very different suspension geometry. I'm curious how these do on the G.
