Basic question, but I can't find a straightforward answer.

I have a 2005 A/T G35 Coupe. Factory 17" 6 spoke wheels.

I bought a set of 19" Forged Rays from a 2006 G35 Sport Pkg Coupe. I love the factory look!

Can I put the 19" Rays onto my Non-Sport Coupe without any alignment or suspension changes?

Are there other factors I need to consider? Will I need to adjust the speedometer, caster/camber, vdc, etc?

I want to check before installing, so that I don't prematurely wear down the new tires. I will be using all oem sizes for the 19" tires.

Current Setup:
Factory 17" 6 Spoke
17 x 7.5 +30 P225/50R17
17 x 8 +33 P235/50R17

New Setup:
19" Forged Rays
19 x 8 +30 P225/40R19
19 x 8.5 +33 P245/40R19


I found the alignment specs on this forum and the Caster/Camber is different for each of the oem wheel sizes. Can this be adjusted with a simple alignment? (Or do I need a camber/toe kit to adjust it?)

You're not going to get premature tire wear from switching from 17s to 19s.

 

You should be ok if you are factory height. If you are mainly concern with tire wear, get an alignment after installing the 19's you just need to make sure that your toes are within specs and camber is not over -2 (at least from my experienced) I say go ahead and slap them 19's, speedo will adjust & re-learn by itself the more you drive it.

So, just get an alignment to the 19" specs and I should be good?

Is the overall wheel diameter the same between the 17's and 19's because of the lower profile tires on the 19's?

 

Yes, it's factory height. I didn't know if the sport pkg was at a different height.

 

Width and profile both make a difference on overall diameter. Go to one of the online wheel calculators and figure what you have now for diameter/circumference. Then switch to assessing 19s and get the tire size that most closely matches what you have.

I think you should be fine as long as you have the stock height. I have the sport package with 19's and before I had my Audi for winter; I would always switch between 17 in winter and 19 in summer. Had a bunch of alignments done without any issues. I only had one idiot who couldn't get it right, because he didn't notice the different wheel size and told me my suspension was bent.

 

The rear wheel speed sensors on the differential are what the vehicle uses for determining vehicle speed, any OEM wheel with OEM size tires will work for any RWD G35. The FRONT tires are shorter for the sport package, rear wheel height is basically the same amongst all configurations but the width varies on the staggered sport wheels.

Edit: The only time people run into issues with OEM wheel/tire packages is trying to put the smaller wheels on Brembo equipped early year sport models, they need the larger diameter wheels. Also an issue is people with the AWD G35 using the staggered size sport wheels.

 

Can I add to this thread with staring a new one? I'm looking for the same wheels, factory 19" rays, to put on my 05 RWD sedan (factory tire sizes too). I see conflicting information in my searches. Will the 19" rays fit a stock 05 sedan without rubbing issues? It seems many people say "yes they'll fit," then someone chimes in with "get your fenders rolled."

There's also a guy selling a set on eBay, claiming he had rubbing issues going over bumps in an 04 sedan. I'm looking for a difinitive "Yes, they'll fit a stock RWD sedan with no issues," or "No, you'll have issues, need to get the fenders rolled," preferably from someone with first hand knowledge. Can anyone help out? Thanks

 

With the stock tire set up, 225/40/19 and 245/40/19 you'll be fine with no rolling at stock height or lowered a bit.
